RIP Kyle Busch.

I hated him, and then grew to really appreciate him. He was a throwback and for a long time he was the best in the business. He was sick after the race at Watkins Glen and then after he won the truck race last week, he looked exhausted. I think there was more here going on.

For the last 30 minutes, I've been texting non-stop with my former co-workers. Very sad news.

He was just announced to have a "serious illness" this morning, and then he died within hours. Completely unexpected and shocking.

I won't lie, I was not a fan of Kyle's, but I had respect for his wins and his competitiveness. I have to be honest, I'm not a big fan of most of the younger drivers, which is sad. But I've had the chance to spend a lot of time over the years with Austin Dillon, and I like him a lot. So I've grown to appreciate Kyle more as Austin's teammate.

And I like Chase Elliot. Hard to root against the son of Awesome Bill from Dawsonville.

****, he was sick DURING the race at the Glen. He radioed his pit crew and asked to see his doctor in the hauler immediately after the race.

My brother lives up there and heard it was pneumonia. I know two weeks ago during the race he radioed in for a doctor to meet him at his motor coach after the race.

That’s what I thought of after I read the article I posted above that said it started as a sinus cold. I’ve had those develop into pneumonia several times.

Not into NASCAR at all but I was one of the few “rooting” for him 20 years ago just because my old man (who watched it religiously) hated him.

Regardless, awful to hear.
 
I just told others, my firm was literally just talking about him & his wife. They’ve been our case study as to why we refuse to engage w IUL products. He & wife just settled a huge lawsuit w one of our competitors due to not fully disclosing the pros & cons of IULs which lost them millions of dollars in benefits.

I believe the lawsuit settled in either late March or early April this year, & now he’s gone. This is wild AF.
