Riley possibility to USC

I obviously have orange and green shades, but can someone tell me why the USC job is THAT much better than UM? This would never happen in our wildest dreams...

Lincoln Riley is scared to coach in the SEC
Coaching in the SEC is a dead end job unless you’re at a program with low expectations.

As long as Bama & UGA are outspending the world & hoarding all the elite recruits, it’s a waste of time if you’re a big time coach to go the SEC, because if you don’t have immediate a success you’ll be on the hot seat because people have unrealistic expectations without factoring in that Bama & UGA have an extremely unfair advantage over every other program.

If you’re going to the 2nd tier jobs like Kentucky, Mizzou, Arkansas, the Mississippi’s, South Carolina, Tennessee etc, then yeah it can be a good job because the expectations aren’t as high & out of wack, there’s more perspective & patience, but going to the more high end programs in the SEC is a beautiful trap...

You’ll make a lot of money & have access to great recruits, but if you don’t win quick you’ll be fired.

Oklahoma going to the SEC will just cause more traffic jam of teams dying in the War of attrition behind Bama & UGA.

The same thing that happened to TAMU when they went to the SEC is what will happen to Oklahoma & what will happen to Texas is what happened to Arkansas & Mizzou, it’s a marathon race to the middle/bottom of the conference, all for the illusion of a few more million dollars in conference pay out from TV deals.

They’re going to be paid really well to be sacrificial lambs for the top of the conference & keep the SEC propaganda campaign rolling. That’s what these teams vying to be in the SEC don’t realize, they want them in the conference to make Bama & UGA look good, not to actually give them a chance to rise above them.

Get Lane signed now...his season is over....doesn't have to coach bowl game a month from now.

Have him sign on the line which is dotted.

They have a functioning BOT and strong athletic director. They have cohesion in their approach and vision for the program. Miami has a bunch of pampered morons who only want to use their connection to the university to further their own image.

Miami COULD be like USC, but they definitely are not.

And none of these schools want to hire Manny Diaz. A coach some around the program feel can take you to the top.

I mean goddam. Even Al Golden got courted by Penn State.

Schefter reporting OU will be targeting Kliff Kingsbury to replace Riley. Doubt he goes and they end up like the guys @Liberty City El mentioned. Huepel would be the safe play for them.

Also the tears if Tenn loses another promising coach after 1 year to go to his alma mater.

And yet y’all keep saying these coaches ain’t going nowhere lol money talks and the best situation great job Lincoln Riley wish we made moves like this and not movies lmao

Where does one start?

Much bigger school, they are the undisputed big dog in the most populous and wealthy state in America, longer tradition, more than 1-2 runs in their history, so many more alumni, beloved in LA, a massively, massively larger amount of financial support from alumni and donors than what we've had in the past... Miami is a great town but LA is the biggest CFB media market in the world... Hollywood (everyone wants to build a brand these days)....

Also many USC people stay in LA and continue to support them for their whole lives... Miami alumni, which again is a much, much smaller group, mostly scatters back to South America, the NY and the NE, Chicago, etc. Miami is also a very fickle sports town... LA people are more devoted, former players cal literally get away with murder... (helps with recruiting)...

Wow, that really sucked to write all that. Now I am depressed. But being intellectually honest is the first step on the road to recovery. Or is it flushing your stash? I can't remember.

Agree, with a minor change.
