RICHT & the OFFENSE for next year

It's obvious people don't watch games or understand what is going on. The plays were there a lot but our QB would underthrow/overthrow the receiver, throw it in the dirt. We need better and more consistent OL play, particularly in the redzone, the passing game and play design was there, it was execution and particularly QB execution.

With all of the improvements on the offense side of the ball along with an experienced QB battling 3 young but unproven QB's Richt should have a field day every game. This offense should average at least 40 points a game next year. and If the offense doesn't then PASTOR RICHT needs to fire himself as OC. If Oklahoma, Oklahoma St, Penn St, Ohio St, Memphis, FAU, and UCF can do it them UM can do it too.

Richt is who he is. That is not going to change. We could have dropped 60 on ND. Seriously, everything was clicking that night. What did Richt do, call the dogs off leading 34-0....early in the 3rd Quarter. We won 41 - 8. Should have been 62 -8, but we walk with the Lord.

Don't get your hopes up. The next OC will be Jon Richt.

Could have lost by over 60 if Dabo had not been the Christian that he is and not put the scrubs in early....we couldn't stop the scrubs...

So, that's how it works...you admit that Coach Richt looks to have put together a dynamic 2018 offensive squad. But, that was just the setup for you to get in early on a possible hate fest ...a blog poster, you, sets some arbitrary points per game number and if Coach Richt doesn't meet your standard he should...wait for it...fire himself!!

It never ceases to amaze me the things you haters invent daily to slather hate on the Canes coaches and players.

To be fair to Richt, if you watched Hurricanevision you would see that guys were wide open all day in every game. Poor throws and poor reads left a lot of points on the field last year... OL needs to be a lot better too

Same mistake cost Bowden his job.

Hiring family is one dumbass thing to do.

Red Zone offense only improves with a better short yardage run game and Tight Ends.

I think with Jordan and Mallory we at least fixed half of that equation.

Realus George should solve a portion of that as well. The only question is will our OL step the **** up.

Our OL was good at pass blocking last year, but we were straight up bad at run blocking.

If our Offense only improves in 3rd down % and redzone % we will have an elite offense.

With the speed at WR we should be running out there, the OL should have 1-2 less bodies in the box. That all depends on the qb being able to distribute the ball accurately and efficiently to our playmakers.

Average 40 ppg? I’ll be happy if we can convert more successful 3rd down plays.

Must be the off-season. Our QB will win the Heisman. All our freshman will be freshman All-Americans. We are a lock for the playoff. Love this time of year.

I’m torn on this. In one sense I agree Lincoln Riley would average 45 a game with our talent on O. On the other hand Malik Rosier (the scrub baseball player) broke the single season TD record with Richt calling plays.

It's funny, I was thinking about ole Bobby the other day. I think he finally ended up winning 2 NCs. If Richt can finally get over the hump and win one or maybe 2 NCs, he would be a god around here. It would also be well worth the wait. Sure, the landscape is different than it was back when Bobby won his but I just have to believe, maybe naively, that coach Richt will eventually figure out a way to keep most of the top guys in town instead of watching them walk out of town to Georgia or Alabama. Once that happens, it's off to the races.

Things are not going to change, but can you imagine under Richt with an accurate quarterback. Let's also not forget that Malik made some great plays with his legs.

The current state of the program, improved recruiting, family culture, community participation, IPF $1MM of his own, and yet to some "fans" they just cannot see the big picture and prefer to bytch and moan.

He would have shattered the record if he was accurate.

ThomasM @ post 14 nailed it. MR was handcuffed last year big time, only so much he could do with Rosier, dude cant hit the barn with a football. I think Perry and the other new QB will be much better and allow MR to open up his play calling, i look for him to go more pro-style and run some 2 back sets and take advantage of the horses we will have in the backfield. Why cant i quote a post ? I am signed in but the "quote" thing does not appear under each post

Wasn't MR handcuffed by Kaaya too?

For as bad as Rosier was, he set the all-time TD record at a school with a pretty good QB history. Perhaps the issue isn't as simple as changing a player to two. Perhaps he needs some actual help.

Miami still don't have dat dominant Oline.

Not yet, but I think we're starting to get there, at least talent-wise. Guys like Donaldson, St. Louis, Herbert, and Scaife are all major talents. Gaynor showed flashes while being pressed into service early. Reed is a mauler. Even Haydn Mahoney showed that he's not a complete waste of scholarship by the end of last year. We're starting to see a lot of the "dead weight" on the OL start to drop off. I don't think we're there yet (a lot of the really talented guys are probably a year or two of S&C away) but we're way closer than we were a couple years ago, IMO.

Our biggest problem on offense was in the Red Zone. We were pretty good between the 20s, but if we didn't hit a big play we were atrocious. With 2 TEs, a FB, 2 RBs and several WRs to go along with the likes of Dallas, Homer, Richards, Thomas, Harley and Cager... If we can't figure out how to get the RXZ % higher, we got a serious problem

I feel our biggest problem was 3rd down conversion. We fix that and we will be an elite offense.
