It’s a shame he didn’t cede control of the offense to an OC and hire a legit DC to replace Diaz once he left.

He was by far the best coach we’ve had since since Butch.

With two solid coordinators, we could’ve been really good.
Still couldn’t recruit with our buddies Rumph and Bartender still here.

richt was a very good coach. we got him too late. he fell off after around 2004-2005. still strong enough to win 10 games and recruit but he was clearly burned out. he never had a break from coaching. how many coaches coached at a high level that many years straight starting with FSU through Miami?

Mark Helfrich wanted the job, and Richt didnt even have to fire anyone. Say what you want about him protecting his son, but imo he did the opposite, his selfishness to call plays to satisfy himself screwed his football team and his son. If his son was working under Mark Helfrich, he wouldnt be running HS QB camps.

Richt sucks. He had way more issues than his doofus son and lack of OC. He was quite literally ready to hand the DC job to Patke and Banda b/c he was so fk'ing lazy, the thought of interviewing anyone exhausted him.

Amazing experience against ND and even the bowl win in 2016 was cool to see in person. But doesn't really erase the 30 or so other games of pure mediocrity he presided over.

You think Larry Coker, Randy Shannon, Al Golden and Manny Diaz are better coaches than Richt?

2016-2018 Richt? What's the difference? Anyone willing to hand 2 grad assistants the DC job is in the same class IMO.

Losing to 2-5 Notre Dame, Almost losing to UNC with over 20 players out of the year in our "miracle" 2017 etc. - just not seeing the difference
