Richt On Perry Development

Just wanted to point out that Rosie is three inches taller than Russell Wilson, an inch taller than Drew Brees, and an inch shorter than Aaron Rogers, Joe Montana, and Dak Prescot. Not at all disagreeing with your general statement, but this idea that everyone who is not Ben Rothlesberger, or Philip Rivers is too short to be an effective QB is nonsense.

Rosier is 6'0 and rodgers is closer to 6'3 than hhe is 6'1.

Malik is listed at 6'1"
Wilson is 5'11"
Brees is 6'0"
Rogers, Prescot, and Montana are all officially listed at 6'2"

But let me guess. You've seen him in person and know for a fact he's lying about that extra inch.

This happens all the time. Just because he is listed at 6'1 doesnt mean he is 6'1. Richards is 6'1 and him and rosier aint the same height.

No. What happens all the time is fans think they can get a more accurate gauge of a player's measurables by looking at them than, you know, the people that actually do the measuring.

Gerald willis has been listed at 6'2 everywhere since high school but on the roster they list him at 6'4. Stacy coley was listed at 6'1 here but at the combine he was just under 6'0.

Who is Rick?

My bad. We get a little informal around here sometimes. Coach Rick.

That gif is awesome. If Richt called an ENTIRE game with that intensity, we'd beat VT by 3 Tds.

A senior QB who will more than likely win the coastal, maybe the ACC 'ship, is going to be benched for a red shirt freshman, really??? :stupid: And this is based on the comments by CMR that when he makes the right reads, he throws a good ball. Really?

Rosier hasnt played at a high enough level to lock down the job. Completing 53% of his passes vs fbs teams.

Some big games are coming up..., so we'll see if he plays at a "high enough level", as if to guiding his team to the ACC 'ship game and possible playoffs isn't enough.

Good thing we have a freshman to take over if we fail to win a NC this year, right??!! smh

Best player should play regardless of class or what the team did the previous year.

Exactly. No guaranteed spots, boys. The best players earn the jobs each year. Keeps the upperclassmen honest and playing at a high level.

I really like Rosier and the grittiness he brings to our offense. We have not had a ballsy QB like him in a long time. But with that said, he has to continue to improve. He's in the driver's seat to be the starting QB next year, but let's see what happens.

May the best man win whoever that may be.

If Perry can prove that he can make those reads he should get the start. If Rosier matures to the point where he can make those reads, he should get the start.

At this point Perry can't even beat out Evan Sheriffs.

Highly doubtful he makes that much progress before Spring.

You sound dumb. His problem as richt said a million times is just learning the system. Spring ball is 5 months away.
Rosier has never lost

You understand that Right?

He ain't losing the job unless he seriously regresses

Yes, the best player should play, but that's not this case. A QB with a resume and experience that Rosier is building will be better than any freshman, especially one who hasn't even started one college game yet mind you, even if that freshman was Dan Marino.

No way a freshman will play better than Rosier. Period.

It's kind of similar to the Tim Tebow in Denver situation. Some fans couldn't understand why the Broncos were trying to bring in an aged QB when they had Tebow who was "a winner" and he just won a playoff game against the Steelers. 2 years later the Broncos are in the SuperBowl and Tebow was out of the league.

Not to say that Nkosi or Weldon are Peyton Manning. But if either has the ability to read the defense and go through their progressions, then they should get a shot if Rosier hasn't learned how to do so. If you have to choose between a guy with "winner" intangibles and a guy who can be trusted to make the right decision and throw with accuracy most times, who do you choose?

Also, fall camp is a loooong ways away. Each QB has ample opportunity to make significant improvement. I do believe that Rosier improving in those aspects and being named the starter is the best case scenario.

For the record, Dan did end up replacing a junior while at pitt... As a freshman

Good one.

But do I sound dumber than those who anointed Perry as the starter in the Summer yet he doesn't "know the system enough" to even beat out Evan Sheriffs?

If N'Kosi Perry is named the starter in 5 months I'll send you a check. Give me an address oh great sage.

I read Richt's comment as Perry is a 1 read QB atm; gets the ball there when he only has 1 read to make. He can't go through his progressions which is limiting him. I get it, he is a true frosh and still learning the playbook.

We can complain about Rosier being a 1 or 2 read QB, but the kid has balls the size of Texas, he doesn't get phased and revert into a shell if he isn't hitting. If anything, I see him get more aggressive trying to get the hot hand going.

TL;DR Rosier has to regress or Perry makes a HUGE leap to win the job next year. Perry likely is the back-up next year though.
