A team psych is totally what this team needs:

Great idea.

It’s not uncommon for athletes, especially QBs to get the yips from time to time. It doesn’t have to be a sever case, or last long, but it happens. You golfers know exactly what I’m talking about. Whether you get it on your backswing with a temporary hitch, or you get overly hesitant on some putts, even easy ones. A lot of times you can work through them...but sometimes some people can’t.

I’ll have to look it up, but there was one specific game a few tears back where Kaaya definitely had the yips almost an entire game. It was a home game. He was super hesitant on open throws and was even hitching a little bit. You could just tell he was thinking too much, and that was a big part of it. I’ll have to think it through to remember which game. I think we won it, but not sure.

Bottom line, a psychologist can help in those situations, especially if they get chronic.

I remember Steve Walsh saying he went to one when he was here. The psychologist had him doing visualization exercise. He wanted Steve to imagine successful plays be executed over, and over again.

Find that dude, NOW! and make him Rosier's roommate!

Thank You! Yoda Shalala, a man who stood out amongst women.

Bama's sports psychologist is there to help them deal with all the cash & steroids they get to win Saban titles while being burnt out & worn down by the process once they get to league.

And to help the kids cope with the fact all of their fans actually hate them as people & only tolerate them when they win championships.

Disappointed.

32 posts and nobody's mentioned the obligatory: "He needs to hire to an Offensive Coordinator."

Some athletes recovery from injuries/surgery, are never fully recovered, hampered by their minds alone!!
If it can get an athlete to the next step,.. Money well spent!

I believe Jimmy was one. Probably the best!!
He actually had a degree in psychology...you’d be surprised how much that **** helps. My brother had one at his D2 baseball school up in Boston. Guys would break bad slumps after a meeting or 2.

"Al Golden graduated from Red Bank Catholic High School, Red Bank, New Jersey, and earned his undergraduate degree in pre-law from Pennsylvania State University in 1991 before receiving his master’s in sports psychology from the University of Virginia in December, 1996".............Sound like a match made in heaven. Al Golden and the Miami Hurricanes go together like lamb and tuna fish. Like oil and water.

1st and foremost......**** AG

One needs to earn a doctorate in psychology (PhD or PsyD) to be a sports psychologist. Earning a masters degree psychology (outside of one in clinical or counselibg psychology) is meaningless in many instances because you cant really do **** with it other than say "I have a masteres degree in sports psychology". Psychology is a doctoral level profession in the US.

Regarding UM hiring one.....great move!

People may laugh at this, but there is some truth to this...

Did we have one during the Golden and Shannon years? I hope the answer is no, because those were some of the worst mentally weak teams I've watched.
