Saw this quote from CMR in a 247 article and found it interesting.

“Then they want to know how we are going to develop their son. We have a sports nutritionist, we are getting ready to hire a sports psychologist. We have a team chaplain for you. We have two coaches that do nothing but help your son navigate life and college. Then when you talk ball, we show them pictures of our strength and conditioning program and how dramatic a difference it is from when guys first get here with losing body fat, gaining muscle, and getting faster.

If you don't know Nelson Algholor's story he was a bust WR for the Philadelphia Eagles who finally broke out last year after spending an off-season working with a sports psychologist.

And this is something a lot of the more forward thinking NFL teams are investing in. Dan Quinn of the Falcons is a big proponent of this and so perhaps something Jess Simpson has encouraged the staff to incorporate?

This in and of itself may or may not lead to winning more games or landing more blue chip recruits. But I do think it's another good example of how this staff won't be complacent and is always on the hunt for new ideas to help improve the program.

Important move for the Gerald Willis, Sam Bruces, Michael Irvin Jrs of the world.

Great find on the article. I agree with you all so far; having one certainly can’t hurt. All top athletes have one, especially golf players such as Tiger. They help visualize the players abilities into actionable production on their field of play. Can’t hurt that’s for sure.

We got the right guy and our team is already light years bigger, stronger and more talented than when Golden/ Shannon were here. We have a real strength and conditioning coach now, a sports nutritionist, chaplain and a psychologist on his way. The approach Richt is using is a holistic approach where he is looking to improve in every aspect: spiritual, mental, physical, emotional.

Our ticket sales are soaring, our facilities are improving .. It's great to be a Miami Hurricane!

Yes, Bama has had them for years. Example of their usefulness:

* what is the player’s best learning style, eg reading, on field demonstration, old school chalkboard, video? How quickly/slowly does he learn? How much repetition is necessary to have him truly learn?

* what kind of “motivation” works best with each player? Does he respond well to old school yelling/cursing by the coach? Or, is that style a turn off for him, requiring a quieter, more positive approach?

* his goals? Eg, be the best; don’t ***** up; just get by; etc? How can we best get him to elevate his goals and do the things necessary to achieve those goals?

Great new investment by CMR.

For the record we have done this before but I'm not sure if we ever did it on a full time basis.

No...what they want are bags full of cash

Great Idea!!

Hey CIS .....ever consider getting one for this board's posters?

Some of us do need help .....but won't go because of traffic, or because we're constantly getting into fights on the way to see one.
