Richt kills it in response to no on campus stadium

Personally (and I'm sure most will agree) the main reason people didnt show up to games is because Sun Life Stadium was hot as **** before they put a roof in. Now its set to be around 10+ degrees cooler and im sure fans will be more willing to go to more games because of it. Other than the heat problem Sun Life Stadium isnt too bad of a stadium, and if people start talking about "**** Sun Life! We need an on campus stadium! blah blah blah" then they clearly have never been to the university or are just REALLY dumb

The main reason was because we were losing.

Perfect timing for the fans and community to get behind the canes, getting richt at the same time as the stadium re-do is part of the perfect storm that is brewing, bring on the hurricane as this is the calm before the storm.

Where in the eye of the Hurricane. Not long til we become a Cat 5 wreaking havoc on college football

Richt is dead on. Nice. Also, WTF does this interviewer know? A school with 3000 on campus needs to have an 80000 seat on campus stadium because...?

Good for Richt and ultimately I agree that winning cures everything, but a canopy is not going to stop guys like Jimbo and Saban from using the "gameday atmosphere" line to negative recruit against us.

While I really don't like Sun Life's feel (distance and perception to field), winning and buzz make it a negligible difference, I think.

The gameday atmosphere at the last FSU home game was f'in insane. It was mass hysteria there until our leadership ran out of bullets and lost its nerve.

Richt compared it to the Seahawks stadium.... hopefully we play like the Seahawks on defense

Last year I went to the "Big House" for the USO game. That place sucks! There's only one level surrounding the stadium, it's nothing but concrete and steel beams. The food was horrible! Hot dogs, pretzels, nachos, soda and hot chocolate, that's it!! The crowd was the worst because nobody interacts with you. They just sit there and stare forward, boring. When hail to the victory plays maybe 1 in 20 participate. Michigan loss big in the end but hung on through the middle of the 3rd quarter. I will never go again as it was the worst game day experience I've ever witnessed. The decibel level of 113,000 Michigan fans equal maybe 5000 Miami. Give me Sun Life Stadium any day. Go Canes!!!

A friend of mine is a Michigan alum. He used to go to Hurricanes games with us all the time wearing his Michigan hat. He told me Michigan Stadium is the quietest 100,000 people you'll ever hear.

You can come play where the top players in the world play or you can go play at some worn down community center field. The option is yours.

What is the game day atmosphere they are selling anyway? Seems its more for the fans than the players. The players aren't out tailgating before a game. They are probably showing up to the game together in a bus.

And he's right, been there twice and it's no loud at all and everyone basically just sits there impressed themselves because there's 100K of them.

Reality is Sunlife has been awful and everyone wishes the OB was still here for nostalgia. It was still a pain to get to the OB and Sunlife does make it more convenient for those coming from the Palm Beach area.

I'm looking forward to seeing how the canopy helps with attendance and experience. Richt isn't blowing smoke with his defending of the stadium. It really 'could' be one of the better CFB experiences.

It's because of the way their stadium is designed. The crowd noise goes straight up in the air because the seating is very flat/horizontal rather than tall/vertical.

All valid points; however, the smaller scale games is where we really take a beating with our perception. That isn't going to change.

For 50 years I have seen people not show up to games win or lose. It is what it is and always has been. The only time we sell out a home game is versus a big name team who brings lots of fans.

We should be going into that game 4-0 this year. Prob will be another great atmosphere.

Here is what is so silly about him mentioning time to stadium- most fans that attend games of 98% of all colleges travel 50+ miles to get to the stadium. They aren't locals! When recruits visit and that Some Beiche filled, they ain't gonna care that it's not sitting in Coral Gables! They will look around and think this stadium sweet! All we have to do is win and play very competitive and it's a rap!

Exactly! People in Miami complain about having to drive to SunLife. At most schools, alum drive hours to go to games. Does anybody think all the UF alumni live in Gainseville? **** no. They drive from Miami, Tampa, Orlando for games.
