The challenge we have with Richt is that he’s ultimately only accountable to himself.

Frenk, Blake James, and our boosters, can’t and won’t touch him. He dropped his own money into the IPF, and he’s an upgrade amazingly from the pile of dogsh!t that we had beginning with Coker.

So unless he develops tremendous self-awareness between now and the off-season, it’s not going to get any better.

The play-calling, game strategy, sloppy play, recruiting failures, and lack of qb development falls squarely on Richt. He needs to be the CEO and hand over the reins of the offense to someone with talent so he can tie up all these loose ends. It’s doable if he wants. He’s been in the game long enough, has enough of a rep, enough connects, that he should be able to hire the right person as OC (along with QB Coach, OL coach).

If only he could be held accountable.

It will catch up unfortunately it will be another 3 to 4 years of the mediocrity for the pressure to retire gets bad.

175-60
It took Georgia 15 years and 51 losses to fire him
Mark Ferentz is a spoiled pampered coach period
Blake and julio need so stop kissing his *** like he saved our program..its starts with them

The difference is in Coker/Shannon/Golden taking this school to unacceptable levels...5-7 to 8-4 consistently with no peaks in sight, recruiting classes closer to 20...

...Richt will be regularly 10-2'ish, challenging for the Coastal and winning the Coastal nearly every year...might even win the occasional ACC before getting thumped, recruiting classes will be around 10, he's going to run a clean program.

Now, the latter isn't an acceptable ceiling to me, but I do understand that is a very difficult resume to give the boot to. I mean, it took Georgia over a decade to realize he had already peaked and the ceiling was unacceptable.

Richt just is, what he is...a B+ coach...but he's not going anywhere anytime soon. Get used to awesome moments and being in the Top 25...but get used to games like UVA, like Pitt, and getting thumped by real deal teams.

I dont know man. I think yall might be underestimating Frenk. I don't think he's the pushover on athletics some automatically assume he is, especially if Hard Rock becomes an empty canyon with banners flying over it. Problem is, like most university heads, he'll leave the decision to his AD, and we all know Blake ain't doing nada. We might still have Golden right now if it were up to him.

Looks half asleep and disinterested/unfocused on the sideline, like his mind is still in the Dunkin Donuts drive thru, or thinking about picking up the Ambien at Walgreens after the game

Isn’t this exactly the scouting report on Richt from Georgia. Some stubbornness , will drop a game or 2 he shouldn’t etc etc ? Many on here have been saying this from very early on. I guess it does not make it any better.

When Richt first went to Georgia, he was coming off red-hot seasons as the OC at FSU. His first few years at Georgia were some of his best years in terms of W-L record with him as a play-caller. New Georgia AD came in, iirc, and forced him to hire an OC and asked Richt to be the CEO which he reluctantly accepted.

Fast forward and I recall Richt saying that part of the deal for him to come back to Miami as a HC was getting to be the play-caller again. He’s trying to recreate his Charlie Ward fast-break offense/ early Georgia years here with an antiquated offensive system and a rusty skill set.

I just can’t see him swallowing his pride here. I suspect he’ll internally be telling the powers that be that he hasn’t had a fair shot with a legitimate QB and won’t accept responsibility for lack of development at the position.

Frank and James aren’t going to be able to touch him. The boosters aren’t strong enough. Banners won’t matter. This will boil down to introspection and swallowing pride.

I have my doubts he can tank the rest of schedule and not face some blowback.
Btw, BC is gonna stack the box for the 1st down running back smash everyone knows in coming. Rosy, Kosi or JW are going to have to throw forward passes again a D who know exactly whats coming from Mr predictable

Say it with me, NO UNIVERSITY PRESIDENT IS GOING TO SPEND THEIR TIME MICROMANAGING THE ATHLETIC DEPARTMENT. I know that this "Fanbase" has this weird, irrational belief that the University President has an office in the athletic department building and makes decisions from there, but that isn't the case. If change is going to come, it's going to come from the high dollar boosters, and the athletically inclined members of the BOT. No rational group is going to fire a guy that consistently wins the Coastal and finishes with an average of 10-2 every year. That said, I wouldn't be shocked if Jon Richt is moved to a front office job, and a real coach is brought in to help Richt modernize his offense.

All you guys thinking he’s going to go 10-2 every year and have top recruiting classes are fools. It doesnt work like that at Miami.

When a program stagnates and embarasses itself, some schools can maintain elite recruiting bc they have massive staff budgets and boosters.

Once momentum leaves our program during a regime, recruiting craters. It happened literally to every coach we have had since the turn of the century.

And its already happened to Richt. The bed wetting at the end of last season killed our recruiting for NSD and our 2019 class is a joke. He has already lost the momentum. Time to move on bc it will get worse and worse.

This school has no middle ground. Its either the greatest heights or a dumpster fire.

Georgia finally cut the cord when they realized Richt could not compete with Bama. Saban’s right hand man, Kirby Smart turned down offers over the years. He is a Georgia alumni who more or less made it known he was waiting the Georgia job. Eventually the powers at UGA ponied up the money to buyout Richt and hire Smart.

I would not surprise me if UGA got out of playing Richt his full buyout once Richt took the Miami job. It seems buyouts usually deduct whatever coaching salary the coach earns at his next job.

This is a good post.

Whats sad, is, from Toledo to FSU...if THAT is our offense, we will be juuuuuuuust fine. High volume run. Efficient passing. Offense had spurts of up tempo. As Nkosi got more comfortable, I am sure you'd see more of it.

I don't know what happened in the week leading up to UVA, but its like Mark Richt went full self destruct mode. Like, had a bad week at work and you see him leaving an dirty motel with a woman that is not his wife.

Dude we were playing junior varsity teams those weeks.

Only way he leaves is if he retires, our only hope and it's an infinitely small hope is if he decides to hire an OC

I was thinking the same. I think if he some how sh*ts the bed the rest of the way he will contemplate retiring. Diaz would probably become head coach and hire himself an OC while he coaches the Defense.
