Coach Richt is a class act. We were sitting about 20 rows up on the fifty on Raines side. Smack in the center of a contingent of citizens from the Northside of Jacksonville and to put that in perspective for those not familiar with Duval County... it like smack in the middle of Liberty City in 1980. Raines has one white kid on the team and his family was the only white spots in a sea of black people. We tell Hurlie where we were sitting and he says that they were on their way up. Well when they emerged out of the tunnel into the stadium... IMMEDIATELY people are like MARK RICHT... everyone throwing up the U and cheering.. and Richt reciprocated with his own U. He had to take at least 15 pictures before he could get up 20 rows. He took pictures with old ladies, young kids...everyone. He makes it to the seat next to Shaq with Hurlie and Ice... people continued coming up to congratulate him and welcoming him back home to Florida and never once neglecting to respond. Even one FSU fan asking how could he commit treason against FSU.. he replied with a smile on his face... I had to go back home... I don't know the connection but one of the white people in Auggie's (Raines QB and only white player) contingent was none other than Greg Nauta who quickly came up to greet coach Richt. It was obvious they knew each other. Richt set with us from the end of the 1st Qtr until Halftime and then he went down to about row 5 to sit with Mike Pinkney's mom for a stint...The whole time taking photos and shaking hands and throwing up the U... speaking of which Mike got a picked and when he got up from being tackled Mike throws up the U and the Ref throws a flag. Coach Richt stoop up and threw up the U ... and replied "I can't believe they penalized him for that... we got to fix that..." All in all it was exciting and I can't wait to see what's next...

I really appreciate your posts and insight. Finally having a coach with a record of big time success and stature seems to resonate throughout the state. Pretty cool

You make it hard not to root for your boy. Feels like we get to know him a bit earlier than we normally would with the updates you post here. Wish Shaq all the best...........hope he does great things at the U and beyond!

Without a doubt, your son and the rest of the players are in good hands now.
