Richt Hire Revisited...

I don't mind the Richt hire, what I absolutely despised was the extension.

Mullen is a good coach, but would he be a good fit for us. I wouldn't think so as I don't remember him targeting local recruits ever.

Patterson, Kelly, and even unproven Fuente were at the top of my list. Their offenses suit the athletes we have down here. Richt is a dinosaur whose bones have been unearthed and tasked to lead this offense. Sad **** man.

All I knew was I didn’t want Cristobal or Schiano. Probably had Herman and Fuente (neither of whom was interested) as top names with butch as a fallback until richt became available.

I wanted from what was available:

1. Herman
2. Fuente
3. Richt
4. Butch

I thought Herman would kill it down here and clean up with recruiting for sure.

Lots of things wrong with Richt but everyone needs to relax he’s helping get a lot of things accomplished off the field that will help us. Still a really good coach

Fuente would've been the best hire. He's young, smart and the sad thing is, Richt will coach here as long as he wants to because no one will fire him. Plus I don't think Fuente has any sons to put on staff.

I was a Mullen guy.

Thought he would have been the best hire. Still do, though he probably would have been on the first train smoking to LSU or Florida when those jobs came open.

One interesting part of hiring Mullen is that we would still have Diaz as the DC.

And with all the gripes about QB play, it would definitely be interesting to see what Mullen would have done with QB recruiting and development. With Dak on his resume, probably could have landed some talent over the past few cycles, IMO.
