Richt has boxed himself in re: QB

Mental reps on the sideline? Did I read that right? How does option 2 equate to Miami winning the division and going back to the ACCCG? I need someone to help me out with that logic. Because he certainly didn't win the UVA game for us and he had plenty of opportunities. There's also zero guarantee that he was going to beat UNC. Some of you guys keep on holding to the lucky breaks that we got last season and still hold onto that whole "But Malik won us 10 games and the division title herp derp" ish.

OP, Richt has flagrantly mishandled this QB situation. Taking Perry out as soon as he started off slow and giving him a short leash compared to his predecessor whom always has these inconsistencies is what shatters one's confidence.
This is the absolute truth!! Richt pulled the kid wayyy too early and never should have pulled him at all! He should have let the kid work himself out of it because we were only one score down, defense playing nasty, so what's the point of yanking him out?!! The miss throws from Malik when guys were wide open and under thrown Perry makes that throw all day and everyday!!

Now the kid if given the start has to play tentatively looking over his shoulder!! Richt is screwed no matter how he plays it out and it's all his fault! He created this mess!

Makes little difference, both QBs are trash and will lose us games. We’re not winning anything meaningful with this offense. Might as well roll with Perry and get him experience.

Play the upside. Start Perry. Done.

I refuse to believe that he couldn't have called simple completions to our significantly more advantaged skilled positions to get the kids settled into the game.

Completely agree. Why do some posters think that the season can't "spiral out of control" (as the OP put it) with Malik at QB? Many posters on this board are so blinded about what really happened last season, that they think Malik is some steady hand at QB lol. I must of imagined all those turnovers the defense needed to create just to barely beat inferior teams.

On what planet does Rosier give us the chance to win anything important? Dude actually has regressed from last year.

Our offensive scheme is laughable. It's not far beyond the play calling.

If play calling was the issue then we'd be lucky.

Prior to this season, I was holding out hope that Malik would be able to serve as the bridge to the talent at QB that we have in Perry and Williams. I applauded Richt for going to Perry early in the year but was guarded with the reality that making such a bold move meant that he was now all-in with his young signal caller. I honestly felt (and still feel) that Malik beats UNC and FSU and probably gets us through a weak Coastal division and onto Charlotte. I'll probably get slammed for this but he did it last season and the sample size is there despite his obvious and numerous flaws.

With Perry, the upside is clearly evidence but let's not act like we weren't jaded based on performances against poor opponents and at home no less. He's not Tua or even Fromm and needs 2 good years in a college system, simple as that. Here is the conundrum we are in now:
- Stick with Perry and risk the season spiraling out of control further and completely shattering his confidence
- Go back to Malik

I absolutely hate option 2 but if winning the division and getting back to the ACCCG is our goal, this might be the only option Richt has given himself. I don't think it will be a popular decision in the locker room initially, but I truly believe that Perry needs more mental reps on the sideline, and think this will be beneficial in his development now that he's seen the bullets fly. He'll have more confidence going into the spring and that will also bode well for Jarren as the two compete for reps.

This is what more coaching decisions and roster management gets you and this, of course, could blow up in Richt's face regardless of the direction he goes in.

Your flawed in your thinking. Do you know why Malik has been less effective as the season went on? B/c there's now game tape of him. Just like there is game tape of Richt's offense. Any defense w/ a pulse is shutting down the offense. The difference between Malik and Perry is that Perry has better arm talent. The only saving grace w/ Malik is he's a better runner. However, teams are game planning for that b/c he can't even hit the simple read, nor does Richt's philosophy allow him or Perry for that matter to take advantage of whatever the defense gives him.

Our only hope is for Tom Brady to forget he had one year of eligibility left and want to come back to play for the real UM.

Perry can’t run worth a crap, but passes well when he has time. Rosier is fairly good runner but is pass impaired. Here is the problem, mark wants to run the ball but has not a clue how to do so. Rosier’s Wheels make his run game work better but teams just stack the box and Rosier can’t take advantage of it. Perry can throw but since mark has forgotten how to run, the defense just tees off On him. We have best rb and wr rooms in frigging years but a coach that can’t firgure our how to use them.

Richt had Perry on an extremely short leash vs UVA. That tells me that he doesn't trust him at all. Maybe it's due to immaturity issues, bad practice habits, or whatever else we've heard about on here. Richt trusts Rosier more than he trusts Perry even though he knows Rosier is very limited and severely limits what the offense can do. There was no going back to Perry after he yanked him, and that says a lot. And we can't even talk about Weldon because he's always suspended.

Seems like he doesn't want to throw Williams out there just yet. Maybe he really is limited by an abdominal injury, I don't know.

This is a rotten QB situation to be in.

As I said several weeks ago, I was afraid this would be Richt's 2015 UGA QB situation all over again. Looks like those fears are being realized.
Who were the available QB's at UGA in 2015?
