Look I'm disappointed in Richt also but he does have a point with the talent we have we should be able to run the most basic plays and beat teams like UVA and BC, the execution is still on the coaches to coach these guys up, but I think the play calling thing is blown out of proportion

I also saw the coaches talking about rotating too many guys and I think that's a good point also, I get we are loaded at WR but we should only play the top guys. How do you ever get into a rhythm playing multiple QB's and way too many receivers imo. Same thing with the oline. I hope I don't get killed for this post I'm not saying Richt should be O coordinator

As much as the QB's have struggled IMO the blame falls on the soft shoulders of the "offensive" line. Their inability to do much of anything keeps us from getting any sort of running game going that would relieve some pressure off the passing game. I knew we were screwed when we couldn't run on Savannah St.

We should have who cares what we should be able to do. The Reality is we aren't able to do it. So bring some creativity to the offense. We aren't Bama that can just line up and run basic plays and blow teams out.

To play devil's advocate for a second, it's hard for the line to bully their opposition when defenses are predicting the majority of our plays.

Ummm it’s all on Richt. If this was year 1 then yeah he has a point. But it’s year 3 going on 4 and our offensive line is just as bad if not worse then before. We still don’t have a QB. We’ve lost Allison to transfer, he’s recruited 2 knuckleheads in Perry And Weldon, and landed Williams.

Whenever he says we can’t execute basic plays he needs to hold a mirror in front of his face.

You have the fastest player on the field and you gave him the ball 1 time in a 60 minute football game.

He has no point. This is all fixable if you just run a halfway intelligent offense.

His point, even if he doesn't recognize it, is that he sucks coaching the offense. It all comes down to him, both as the Head Coach and Offensive coordinator. If there's an execution problem, it's up to him to fix it. If you are rotating too many guys, it is up to coach Richt to stop rotating so many guys.

This offensive mess is all on him.

But players still have to win the match ups. The example of the 1st interception against BC the play gets blown up by pressure Malik gets hit and turnover. Again play calls are overrated when playing lower tier opponents we couldn't run the ball against Savannah st. is that the play calling?

The only thing that matters is it’s year 3, and we still suck. And his side of the ball is a complete abortion. It’s 100% on Rick.

It is the coaching staff's job to either:

A) get the players to execute your system better

B) adjust your system to better suit the players you have.

Of course they have to win matchups. No one is expecting Mark Richt, or any coach, to go out and out-scheme every team Miami plays to the tune of 50 points without breaking a sweat. We all know the OL isn't great, and we all know Rosier is awful.

But the literal definition of good coaching is adapting your scheme to your player's abilities. You don't just do the same things over and over and over again. You learn from your mistakes. The OL can't pass protect adequately for several seconds? Throw quick passes. You can't run the ball in the middle? Run misdirection. You have athletic advantages? Scheme up ways to get the ball to those players in space. Do. Something. Different.

Richt (and for some reason, a lot of people here) continue to say we should be able to line up and execute the simple, archaic offense and beat teams like UVA and BC. And I agree. But guess what? THEY'RE NOT DOING THAT! So how bout trying something different? Instead of just saying, "Hmmmm, this should work" and scratching your head while quizzically looking at your playsheet, do something different for Christ's sake.

You’ve been brainwashed by guys who protect coaches by pointing out how players aren’t executing or winning matchups.

If you’re a HC in year 3, and your players still aren’t executing consistently, then you have failed. Good coaches get the players to execute and win matchups. Bad ones say the players aren’t executing.

Bingo.

And since you can't trade for players midseason in college football, how bout just a smidge of Option B?

I'm just saying I think the play calling this is overrated. I honestly don't care if it's basic if we are more talented (and coached better) we should destroy these teams..we can complain about play calling going against Clemson and LSU they are more evenly matched talent wise. If we were winning matchups nobody would say anything about play calls we only notice it cause we aren't winning and scoring points

Actually he doesn’t have a point at all... just because we can line up our talent and beat people (which hasn’t actually proven true) doesn’t mean we should. Go watch Bama film, there’s nothing basic about their scheme and they could just out muscle anyone they want, **** that’s what they did for nicks first few years but he’s adapted, why can’t our coach? Is his way of doing things more proven than Sabans, who put his massive ridiculous ego aside at least enough to make improvements?

We've noticed it 8 times out of the past 10 games we've played against real teams. How long does it take to do something different?
