Redshirting him won't stop him from going pro as a RSO. I say play him now, at least we will 3 years out of him on the field.

He's not ready, so what's the point? Get him out there making all kind of mistakes just so we can get more years out of him?

Just because he is not ready to be the starter does not mean he is not ready to play. Get this kid as many garbage time minutes as possible, that game time experience will help in his development and have him ready to lead this team come 2018.
