Richt's highest win total in his 15 years at UGA was in year 2. Overall winning % at UGA was .740. After 2 years at Miami (FL) it's .731. I hate to say it, but perhaps what we see is what we get.

Or perhaps he improves as his recruits show up. I hate all the comparisons to his Georgia days, he definitely has his short comings but I feel like he's much more involved and has way more fire than he's had at Georgia in years. I'm disappointed by the way the season ended on a 3 game loss (glass half empty view) but on the other hand, we just had our best season in YEARS and we all were crazy excited to be 10-0. I'm not a Mark apologist but this man has done more for our program in the last 2 years than we've had in the last 15.(glass half full view) If we're still having the type of losses we ended on in a couple of years I'll be right there with you complaining.
 
What was Miami's win percentage in the last decade before Richt? Gotta factor that in. But yes, you bring up a valid point, that so many here deflect and mock.

I hate his playcalling, but I'll back him IF he has a QB, RBs and a improved OL in year three. No excuse to have no QB in three years at the U.
 
2005 UGA? 2007 UGA? 2012 UGA? You can’t just base of their record...they also played a ****** FSU team that year in a bowl. If the playoff were around they would’ve been shoe ins 2 those years too. We’re not UGA...we have a superior recruiting ground with superior speed and we’ve won titles with half of talent this staff has. Just let it play out...we’ll probably know what we have by next year.

Richt is entitled to 5+ years. Not saying otherwise. But a 15 year track record can't be ignored because he's in Miami now. At the end of the day he's a B+ coach. That's no revelation.
 
Great recruiting class. Most wins in a decade. won the division. played a new years 6 bowl/BCS for the 1st time in over a decade, but no you want to talk about "shortcomings". We'll revisit this in 5 years because ppl are acting like Richt can't improve or change things. He won 10 games in a row here to start a season something he never did at GA. but we can ignore that if you want.

We needed a sure thing, and we got one. We couldn't afford another crap shoot HC hire, so we got a proven pro.

He's stabilized the program and made us relevant again, but history should be your teacher. I don't know how anyone could look at 15 years of data at a marquee program and not think that we'd get pretty much the same results.

My hope is that his UM Aaron Murray hits a TD pass instead of coming up a yard short of the NC game.
 
another stupid thread about our coach of what he did in the past and not what he has done for us so far. you also forget that the SEC East use to be a tough conference. It only went downhill in the last 5 years and the SEC West became better. ungrateful asses. 10/11 wins, coastal champs, played in acc champ, played in the orange bowl, top 10 recruiting class. we are an above average team with lack of depth. we are rebuilding. it takes time.

apparently once the new AD got their he hated his job lol. his record reflects, his first few years at UGA he was on beast mode.

It's also different with the playoff than when Richt was shut out of the BCS game if he didn't win the SEC. How many playoff teams in 15 years does he coach? At least 3 and probably 2 more get in over that time frame. If this were 5 years ago that fat ******* visor wearing dirtbag Smart isn't in the Champ game on Monday either.
 
We have to hope that Coley goes to Texas A&M, Saban retires, Taggart isn't a good hire. This should allow us to retain more of the elite south Florida kids. On our part, we can't let kids like Gamble... get away because they aren't perfect fits. This year I have a feeling it will be Bonitto, Atwell, Yasir, and Thornton.

First time ever Coastal Division Champs
First 10 win season since 2003
First time with 7 conference wins since 2002

Clemson had less offense against Bama than the Canes had against them - there are probablyTiger fans calling for Dabo Sweeny's head too.

UGA has a 65% winning % in their history, and that include Richt's tenure there. And they won at a 61% clip with the two coaches that preceded him there in Ray Goff and Jim Doonan. UGA wasn't some national power when Richt took the helm in Athens. They had won all of 6 SEC championships since 1960, and one National title that being with one of the best running backs in the history of college football leading the way. Richt left UGA in WAY better shape than he found it. He will do the same here.

All the stats you list are a result of the complete futility of the staphs that preceded Richt. It doesn't take Vince Lombardi reincarnated to win the coastal. It takes a coach that isn't horrible. If the goal was to get the program back to respectability, Richt was the right hire. If the goal was to hire a coach who has been a B+ his whole career and think that he'll turn into an A at Miami is a stretch.

And yet Richt's UGA team, including the major tal;ent that now has them in the NC game, couldnt even compete in the SEC East his last few years. Getting blown out by Mushchump, Butch Jones, Horse Teef....

LOL...got UGA ******* e d up.

Richt took over a team with David Greene, Musa Smith, Randy McMichael, & Ben Watson, among others...Richt had a stick when He took over.

Talent-wise, He left UGA like He found it, He ain't do no Schnellenberger type $h!t now.
