I'm trying to withhold judgement until he gets a competent QB.
Having a bad QB really handcuffs an OC.
We still managed to gain more than a hundred yards over Wisky's average.
The only time they gave up more than 24 points was against Ohio State. (27)
If we hit our FG's and don't throw a **** INT in the redzone then we score more points against Wisky than anybody has all season.
Wisky has the #2 defense in the country and only allows 262 yards per game.
We gained 377 with Rosier at QB and a bunch of underclassmen at the skill positions. (Thomas, Dallas, Cager, Homer, Harley all made plays) Oh, and we were missing Herndon, Walton and Richards.
This. Not to mention Richt's offenses have always run the ball to set up the pass. We really had no solid run game all year. His play calling will improve with a better quarterback, the influx of talent the last two years at OL, and the running back studs we've brought in.
Recruiting Realus George shows where Richt wants to go. A top FB leading the way for a corps of fine RBs (Lingard, Davis, Dallas, Homer). Improvement on the OL and the two-back set will allow Richt to run the ball to set up the pass. The dual-threat QB (Perry) will also be part of the running game that will freeze LBs and DBs as the QB rolls to the edge. If they come up to defend the run, bang a pass to the open WR or TE. Richt tried that somewhat with Rosier, but Rosier doesn't have the accuracy or vision to make the play work. Donaldson is a beast. Gaynor has promise. Hillary and Hebert did not see much playing time; if one of them performs well, it is a get for Miami.
