The DB's as a whole were terrible last night, the front seven did they're job IMO. That kid from Wisky is a great RB and he did little of impact.
I'm trying to withhold judgement until he gets a competent QB.
Having a bad QB really handcuffs an OC.
We still managed to gain more than a hundred yards over Wisky's average.
The only time they gave up more than 24 points was against Ohio State. (27)
If we hit our FG's and don't throw a **** INT in the redzone then we score more points against Wisky than anybody has all season.
Wisky has the #2 defense in the country and only allows 262 yards per game.
We gained 377 with Rosier at QB and a bunch of underclassmen at the skill positions. (Thomas, Dallas, Cager, Homer, Harley all made plays) Oh, and we were missing Herndon, Walton and Richards.

1. He had a competent qb last year.
2. Fair point about us gaining yards against Wisc. However their defense is not THAT good. Their ranking is inflated by the weakness of their schedule.
3. Forget yards for a minute. A major measure of the health of an offense is third down % and red zone %. We're terrible at both.

Richt’s biggest playcalling weakness is in second down IMo, which (along with out lack of a running game) has led to poor results on 3rd down. He kept trying to get it all on second down last night. He needs to bring back the shalllow cross.
If Richt is going to blindly stick to the RPO, we need a transcendent, natural at QB to be dominant. A Lamar Jackson or Michael Vick who has that innate ability to feel a defense and know how to beat it. I don’t think you can coach that into a guy that doesn’t possess it naturally, as far as it relates to the RPO.
I don’t like Richt’s offense. I find it to be vanilla and predictable. But if we get a superstar QB, we have as good a shot as anyone outside of Bama and Clemson at winning a championship.

I think Richt’s playcalling could use some work—especially on second down—but overall it really doesn’t concern me. We moved the ball significantly better than we should have last night.
He does need a better QB but the biggest problem is actually the running game. We kept using the wildcat because we can’t run the ball straight up. We had to have Rosier toss it around the field because we couldn’t run, and that has been the theme all year. Some of that is due to the OL, but Homer might be the most overrated player on the team. He has zero vision. Richt knew we were in trouble depth wise and that’s why he was trying to find a graduate transfer. I think RB will be a lot better next year with Lingard and a more experienced Homer.

This is not true at all. You don't need a transcendent QB. You need a qb who can make the right decisions on a consistent basis throughout the game. Lets take away the passing decisions. Malik was garbage on his RPO or Zone read give/keep reads all year. I bet if he graded out he would be around 60% accurate decision making.
I would love a kid like Trace McSorely. He isn't all world or transcendent, but he is accurate and makes the offense go. Malik is just what he is.
As Big Sky Cane said in another thread, no excuses next season. It will be Richt's 3rd year and we should have ample talent on offense. I'm very concerned about the direction of the defense, coaching-wise.

No excuses next year??? What have you been watching? Our success (or not) will be determined in the trenches. We're going to have a younger OL. Sure you can say addition by subtraction, but starting numerous true freshmen on the line and hoping a LT emerges is not the recipe for success (except maybe against Bethune Cookman, or Toledo). We saw against Clemson how Donaldson fared against real DTs despite his natural ability. We have to hope we hit on all our evaluations and give them at least a year to develop and get stronger before we can reasonably challenge the Clemsons and Bamas which I presume was the objective. Winning the Coastal was merely a long overdue consolation prize.
Nobody thought this was going to be a quick fix.
