Rhett Lashlee

It always amazes me how a player or coach is just the person we need until they get here and then they suddenly become the entire reason we're not better.

Don't you ever change, CIS.
If anything the scheme is what was needed much more than Lashlee himself. He's by no means the silver bullet. No one is saying this slump is all on him but he doesn't deserve the benefit of the doubt. He still has a lot to prove.

One of my main takeaways from last season was that yes, Enos was stubborn as **** and his scheme did not match the personnel whatsoever, but my god are we bad on offense. So I agree with you that the talent is absolutely not there, but Macho, homeboy is calling 5 plays!! At what point do you think calling the same WR screen pass is too much? Why aren't we rolling out King? Why aren't we running more zone read? Why are we running 3 straight inside zones into a defense that's selling out to stop it? Why aren't we getting Mallory the ball more?

His postage stamp playbook is getting exposed more and more.

his offense put up 440 total yards, or roughly two more entire football fields than Enos did against the same team last year.

i continue to maintain we have the dumbest fan base in america

Through six games last year Enos outperformed that 440 figure twice already.

Enos put up 260 against UVA last year
With a back up QB and scored only 2 points less. Don't let me get in the way of your love fest with Lashlee though. I'm not going to go back and forth with you.

I agree, but this isn't anything like the case with Enos where he had a full year to prepare and produced sht. There has been clear improvement with players he didn't pick.

CIS does this sht every time. This group would have responded to the 2001 BC game by claiming we scored two touchdowns less than any point in the season, Fire Rob Chudzinsky! This group would have responded to the 2001 Pitt game by claiming we allowed three times as many points as the whole season, Fire Randy Shannon!

Serious question. Do you watch our games?

He has run all of those plays unsuccessfully because (spoiler alert) we are not good up front. I mentioned in another thread that the first few games we are just covering up defenders on inside zone, we aren't moving anyone.
We literally have not run those plays i listed. A few poorly executed ones like an end around, and 1 screen. That's it. Seriously, watch the games.

UVA was also much better last season, they were a top 25 team. This past Saturday they were missing both starting safeties and we couldn't hang 20 on them. That defense allowed 40+ to VT and Wake; I'm not even asking for 40 a game, give me 30-35 and we should be 9-2 or 10-1.

I understand the gripe, but the fact that there were virtually no adjustments and improvements from Pitt to UVA is a bit alarming. If you take out the first drive (which is always scripted as most of you know), we scored a whopping 12 points against a UVA team who was allowing 36+ ppg entering this contest. Of course. it could just be a little rut, and we'll certainly find out next Saturday if we've learned anything on both sides of the ball. On defense I expect the same stupid chit where we bend but don't break, but if the offense continues to underwhelm, we may have a bigger issue on our hands.

So SMU HAD TALENT? I DONT THINK SO. Not like we have.
Bruh, Miami seriously lacks talent. OL, WR, CB, LB are all significant or major holes.

Golden straight up left us a more talented team than Richt did. Welcome to the New Miami.

But are we better then SMU? Are we better then we was a few yrs ago yes.

You're not wrong, but UVA is going to be harder to beat as they become more desperate to win.

With Jordan out and Mallory playing injured I might argue 2019 SMU did have more starting talent. Actually, its not even much of an argument.

From last years team Proche was drafted by Baltimore at WR
Zavier Jones is now with the Rams at RB
This year Buechele is a draft rated prospect (I would bet he goes ahead of D King if being drafted strictly for QB)
Roberson will be another WR getting drafted. He was on the 2021 pre-seaon Biletnikoff and Maxwell watch lists before being injured
Kylen Gransen is also projected mid-late round draft pick at TE and like Roberson on the Biletnikoff watch.

If Lashlee tried RPO, IZ, Sweep, QB Draw, QB Power, plays from pistol formation and none of those worked because our line is not getting a push. What type of run plays do Lashlee need to call?

None of those has been real effective because of how defenses are playing us. Not sure if you noticed but UVA handled us mostly with 6 in the box. Occasionally they would bring down a 7th (safety) to support. The big thing they did was that they crashed 5-6 guys into our gaps which made running lanes minimal. And, I won't even get into down and distance predictability with our offense. Clemson had the blueprint - jump our bubble screens, bracket our TEs, and 4i lineup on defense to clog up the B gaps thus rendering our IZ run game useless.

But, I'll defer to the football nerds on this coach to verify

We don't have a WR in the same stratosphere as Roberson or Roche. Watch last year's TCU game - they took over. And because they end up drawing so many double teams, it allowed the TE to rack up 700 receiving yards on the year. Totally different team from UM, which is why Lashlee didn't need to push the run so hard. I just wish to God he would work some wrinkles into the run game- misdirection, counters, etc. He has to remember some of those concepts from his Auburn days.

Venables broke him. He's still can cook up a few gimmes for King, but it has been ugly the past 3 games. Also, King ball placement has left A LOT to be desired, WRs rarely have a chance of RAC with his throws
