After next season, if we do really well, Diaz better get Lashlee a raise. We need to keep him as long as possible. One year would just suck if he kills it here.Obviously the better the assistant coaches and players, the better the head coach is/appears. Just ask Coker 2001/2002. Just ask Orgeron 2019. And the list goes on.
Long live Lashlee!!
Just got back from the future.. still burns when I pee and Rhettoric says:Summary please for those that don’t want to listen to joe joe?
Rip Cliff, Metallica hasn't been the same.Cliff joined the band
Still this, and so this will likely be the limitation of how good the offense can be. O-Lines need consistency to develop as a group - you get guys learning different positions, different sides of the line - it takes a toll and makes for lots of mistakes. The mobile QB and spread will help greatly, but musical chairs approaching a season tends to show up against good defensive front 7s. Even with no spring, if the quality was there (best of best), then it would have shown before now (best of the worst). A decent high school team could have adjusted to the blitzes LSU sent at us after seeing the first couple; then UF last year and the sack-a-thon - both musical chair O-lines.-Looking to establish a cohesive offensive line but am mixing a matching till we find a strong group
Lashlee is going to have a Gary Stevens effect on this team. A good OC is guaranteed success.- more holding penalties on offense and pass interference penalties on defense as making it a sloppier scrimmage overall.
- the first two drives the defense got after offense. The guys responded and after those first two drives , got some momentum going on offense
- The freshmen running backs were up-and-down and got better as the scrimmage went on. Jaylan Knighton finished with 12 carries for 43 yards and a TD; Don Chaney ran eight times for 48 yards and a score.
- “Cam Harris has experience, the young backs have really shown they’re fearless and will be able to help us out,”
- “D’Eriq has been pretty steady,” Lashlee said. “The best thing is he hasn’t turned the ball over in either scrimmage, our first offense hasn’t turned the ball over. That’s ben really good to see. At the same time you have to make plays. The first scrimmage he really set the tone for our guys. He’ll be the first to tell you he wasn’t as sharp the second scrimmage. But he knows what to do with it, is going against a really good defense which makes him better. Overall I’ve been pleased; he gives us a chance to win football games.”
- So who is the backup QB?
“We have a pretty good idea, but there’s probably another week before we set anything in stone,”
“N’Kosi Perry has been solid. He’s a guy who has played a lot of ball. Tyler took a really nice step in the second scrimmage. You look at a young guy in scrimmage one got his feet wet, did some good things, I saw a good jump in the second scrimmage, looked much more comfortable. And Peyton Matocha, Tate Martell, Ryan Rizk (a walkon) have made steps as well.”
- is there a set starting five right now on the O line?
, “I’ve been really pleased. Everybody in that room with coach (Garin) Justice, they’re really coming together well. The guys have brought into what we’re doing. We’re running the football better each time we go out and practice, the pass protection has overall been pretty good.”
- Jarrid Williams has been solid and is a valuable , experienced guy in the OL room.
“Coach Justice and I have a pretty good idea of what our starting group will look like for the most part,” Lashlee said. “We have a little bit of time, but not much. … there’s seven or eight guys we think can help us win. It’s not `Man, I hope we can find five.’ Seven, eight, maybe even nine guys can help us, which in a year like this is big.”
- Tight Ends : Will malllory having great camp. Brevin did some nice things on Saturday. Sees both playing on the field together for sure
- WR group: “They’re finding what we’re doing, are playing hard. We don’t probably have that go-to guy. That’s actually a good thing. We have a lot of guys with ability that are learning what we want them to do. Honestly, as an offense you don’t want the defense to say `Hey, we’ll take this guy away from you.’ We have confidence in whoever we have out there that they can make plays.
Lashlee said they have a tough week of practice ahead of them and likely one more scrimmage this weekend before they set some depth charts and begin preparing for UAB.
New OC and Oline coach with no spring made it difficult to see who they like, this is their first time really seeing what these guys can do, they have no reference but to do it now. These are not normal times so time lines are gonna be different.Still this, and so this will likely be the limitation of how good the offense can be. O-Lines need consistency to develop as a group - you get guys learning different positions, different sides of the line - it takes a toll and makes for lots of mistakes. We can seriously only hope. If that happens we could be very sneaky dangerous. GS was cutting edge for college and i loved watching him call for so many passes to the backs and TEsLashlee is going to have a Gary Stevens effect on this team. A good OC is guaranteed success.
Hopefully we’re not gonna hear this: “But, Joe Joe Joe....”
