Rewatching UNC

Our Defense should be okay against the Jackets and we should win. They will have some big plays here and there (as always) but we will not break.

To me the key to the game is that their defense is worse than UNCs. If you thought we had long runs against the Heels just wait until the Jackets game.

Let us not forget we beat GT a year ago on a last minute field goal after converting a 4th and forever prayer catch by Langham. They ran rough shod on us in the first half.
No they didn't, just one quarter, they scored the second TD in the first minute of the second quarter, then their offense scored only a FG the rest of the game. We don't try an onside kick we aren't struggling to win later. we only allowed like 280 yards, we've beaten them 8 of the last 9 years. FSU and VT is the season. We'll beat the rest just playing Canes football.

Everyone knows how to play GT until defenders have execute it with discipline and gap make tackles. We will beat GT handily if we do because we have way more talent. If we don’t, the game will be tight as GT will be able to keep our offense off the field with long drives. Our offense will be forced to be efficient with small amount of possessions we will have. Trust me, we shall see in November. But either way we win or lose base on what we do not what they do.

Agree.

That's always the case with GT.
If we do, we have a 2016-type game.
If we don't, we have a 2014-type game.

Carter needs a lot of work. He isn't going to lay out every guy he hits and it looks like he expects it with how little he tries to wrap guys up. He looks fast and aggressive but I don't really trust him to make tackles at a high enough level to get major minutes at this point. Plenty of time to work on it though, pepper him in for game experience throughout the season and really drill his tackling this summer.

Carter was good on special teams, abysmal in the secondary in the first half.

So after watching GT in person yesterday (Tech alum) play their best game of the season I had a couple of takeaways...

- GT DBs will be a liability - no ability to defend medium or deep throws...over the middle or on the sidelines
- They executed the triple option better than they had all season in this game, including their backup QB in the 2nd half
- Passing game looked better than previous games too...but most were blown coverages
- Bowling Green is almost as bad as Savannah State
- Still no GT pass rush...Perry should have time to throw and the power running game will be there in the 2nd half for Richt to control the clock with

I still don’t think Miami has anything to worry about. The Defense will get gashed a few times during the game. But they will disrupt so much in the backfield that Paul Johnson will be livid on the sidelines and when he gets frustrated, he turns against his own defense (see how many D coordinators he has had while at Tech) and the team gets divided.

Some of you will worry because that’s just what you do. Bottom line here is that Miami is a better team and is not a good matchup for Tech. If its not too cold and field conditions are acceptable, Miami will run away with this game. There will be 6-8K Canes fans being louder than about 40K Tech fans.
