Rewatched the Indiana game yesterday

Thats the strategy that fit the talent we had on offense. And it hurt us when we turned the ball over and didn’t finish drives. It won us the osu and olemiss game
 
I purposely have not rewatched it as I know we ****ed it away. At the time I was just so happy we made it that far and signaled that we're officially back as a perennial contender but in hindsight we really screwed the pooch and I prefer to look forward at this point. We were the more talented team. Like '86, '92, and '02, the other ones we had no business losing, it's hard to stomach rewatching. I'll grant you the '92 team was flawed, but unfortunately I'll have to add '25 to the years where we should have won it all and left it on the field.

100% disagree on Ole Miss. It made that game a lot closer that it needed to be.

We won that game because we stopped trying to hold onto the ball and bleed the clock. Instead we opened it up, went uptempo, and scored at will.

OP what are you talking about? There was no National Championship Game we played in last year

Mendoza is straight trash, his NFL preseason is awful.
 
Hopefully O’Connor only sees the field when we’re up 30 this year. He is garbage. It was automatic when throwing his way all game

First half he made throws any of us could make. Second half when we pressed I think he ended up 3-10 or something like that. Those back shoulder throws hurt us but us not converting on 2-3 INTs including O’Connor who should have had a pick 6 hurt more.

I'm shocked, I tell you...shocked...

Like I said months ago in a thread that continues to live on CIS, he's a very good-great CFB QB, but when you look at both the eyeball test and his stats against us, that was not elite play. He snuck into the #1 position for an improbable highlight reel scramble that would work 1 out of 10 times against us (it was just meant to be, I guess...) and would work once out of 100 times in the league.

He seems like a strange kid, but nice. I'm happy for him and his family that his representation was able to extract all they could from his senior year and now, unless they're dumb, he's/they're set financially for the rest of his life. Having said that...

Yeah, he doesn't have the tools to make it as a long term starter in the league let alone justify the #1 pick. My agent friend (very high level in the biz) told me that he was selected #1 as more of a PR move and ticket/merch seller than actual franchise QB. I mean, they hope he develops, but they're not convinced. Look, if he can't throw for a single TD against a good college D when nearly everything went his way, I don't see it happening for 16 reg season games and then, if they're lucky, the playoffs, year after year.

Again, as a nice person, good for him!! As an actual player trying to win NFL games, I highly suspect that he will be looked back at as a very lucky player who came out at just the right time, but, as my New Yorker friends like to say when they've levied a criticism, "But hey, what the **** do I know???"
