Reviewing the Classes- The Class of 2006

I think the most sickening thing about this exercise has been how obviously bad these classes were. Like, not even with the benefit of hindsight in terms of evaluating careers and contribution. I mean in terms of class composition- that '04 class had no QB, no RB, and no WR. Absolute malpractice. Coker's recruiting gutted this program.

The best player while at the University of Miami might be Colin McCarthy outside of Bosher.

A continuation of recruiting fat sloppy offensive lineman continues, and its no shock the converted TE with athleticism, Jason Fox slid in easy as a starter almost immediately. The next season, I felt there was a pretty good about face by Randy Shannon with the type of OL they were going to recruit (this is assuredly Stoutland's influence as well)...Orlando Franklin, Harland Gunn, Tyler Horn, Brandon Washington, Malcolm Bunche, Jermaine Johnson were recruited in the next three cycles and all would become starters somewhere around CFB, the first four would for start for us.

I felt Symonette was a big disappointment. Was a bit of a mystery recruit with late momentum, but websites were hyping this guy, and I think he ended up a decent 4-star type. This cat simply could not play. Big for nothin, not athletic, and soft.

So basically telling TrumpyCane he was the 1st Bar Milo

I can’t wait til we get to the class of 2008

We're definitely on the right path now. I know everyone falls in love with first round draft statistics but my wish for awhile now has been to just get back to getting ton of players drafted! I miss the days when we had at least one player on every NFL team. And most were actually contributing.
I personally believe in Mario. I think he sacrificed some games those first couple years didnt help TVD fell off the way he did. And Gattis that was one **** of a mess up hire! Hopefully Heatherman is a homerun! Were due definitely due for something to go right over due! Its not the end of the world like some are making it over a couple recruits. Mario big game hunting might not have git keys are russel but had 4* Wingo. Other years we would have gotten nothin. Over reaction right now we have a year to look forward too best team i can remember talent wise..

This illustrates the impact of the Larry Coker misses at wide receiver in 2004 to 2006. It created a reverberating effect on recruiting, leading to two subsequent oversignings (2008, 2012) and difficulty recruiting (2009, 2010) due to loading up on so many players at one position in the same class.

It's really 2016 to 2017 before recruiting at the position truly normalizes.

Star rankings are per ON3 / Rivals (the only source that goes back far enough).

This was such a hard period, because as a Miami fan, we're still stunned and not yet accepting that we weren't the same Miami. Meanwhile, the SEC rise was starting to hit full steam, and those ***** were unbearable and loved to rub it in how bad Miami was.

Coker's horrible recruiting along with who we hired after firing him is what destroyed Miami.

There was a point where we didn't have enough scholarship wide receivers. IN SOUTH FLORIDA!

If we hire Gary Patterson in 2007, there's a good chance he's actually coaching us still right now and we have 3-4 ACC rings.
