Restrepo signs as UDFA with Titans

You say "Gauranteed"? Well how much does he get if he makes the Team?
If you make the 53 man roster your min salary is $840k for rookie UDFA, which means about 30% of his contract is guaranteed this year. So like the minimum you can make if you are UDFA (usually 3 year deals) is $840k+$1.005M+$1.12M = $2.965M over 3 years, then you have year 4 where they can put a RFA tender on you. Those options are 1st, 2nd, or Right1stRefusal which has a value of $7.46M, $5.34M, and $3.26M respectively (for this year - idk what they are in 2028 which would apply to Restrepo). And obviously how that works is you're technically a FA but a team has to give up a 1st or 2nd to get you or the team you were originally on can match with the Right1stRefusal ... but has to pay you at whatever RFA rate they tendered you as (or whatever you signed for)

So basically best case scenario for a UDFA you'd get those 3min salary deals + 1st round tender =~ $10.5M/4 years which is about $2.65M/yr.
Well I guess actually best case would be to have only signed a 2 yr deal as a UDFA and reach that RFA tender earlier and be a full fledged FA entering year 4. But pretty sure standard UDFA is 3 year deals...

I’m unsure if you copied and pasted this response, but whatever… you are deep into the weeds on this one. 😎

Here's the competition:

13 players. Likely to carry 6 or 7 on the roster.

4 rookies. 2 of those 4 were drafted in the 4th round. I know that D!ke played special teams for The Gator, no idea about Ayomanor.

9 veterans.

Treylon Burks - has been less productive every year in each of his 3 years
Colton Dowell - one career catch
Jha'Quan Jackson (similar body type) - one career catch
Van Jefferson - outside of his one good year in 2021, he is good for about 1.5 catches per game
Mason Kinsey (similar body type) - 4 catches in 3 years
Tyler Lockett (similar body type) - solid 10 years in Seattle, can't say anything bad outside of "getting older"
Bryce Oliver - 6 catches in 1 year
James Proche (similar body type) - 16 of his 28 career catches in 5 years came in the 2021 year
Calvin Ridley - solid 6 year career, can't say anything bad

Now, anything can happen with "injuries" or "aging". One would have to assume that Lockett and Ridley have guaranteed spots.

There are 4 guys with similar "small body type" builds to Xavier. The only one he won't beat out (unless age catches up with him) is Tyler Lockett. Two of the smaller guys have 1 and 4 career receptions. The third has 28. And Xavier JUST. MAKES. CATCHES.

Of the taller/heavier 5 veterans, two of them have 1 and 6 career receptions. Two others are declining (Burks and Jefferson). Ridley is the best of the bunch.

So if you say:

1/2: Lockett/Ridley (long-time vets)
3/4: D!ke/Ayomanor (both 4th round picks)
5/6/7: A fight between Burks/Jefferson/Proche/Restrepo?

Expendable/non-productive: Dowell/Jackson/Kinsey/Oliver/Sheffield (12 career catches COMBINED)

I'd think that Restrepo makes the roster if he beats out Proche (similar body type) and Burks. Neither one has done much in the NFL to-date. This would (essentially) make Restrepo the backup to Tyler Lockett, who seems like a good (and aging) guy to learn under.

I saw reports that Restrepo has been impressing with his work ethic and consistency. I’m sure it doesn’t hurt that he’s the safety blanket for their new franchise QB. I hope X makes the 53, kid deserves it.

Absolutely true.

I just wanted to point out, he's not exactly required to beat out a bunch of All-Pros.

There are two veteran locks and two guys who got drafted ahead of him. Beyond that, he might very well outplay the other 8 WRs on the roster, they are an undistiguished bunch.

Know nothing about the **** guy, but I always assumed he was a slot receiver like Lockett and X, is that not the case?

I very much doubt they carry 7 on the roster unless that includes Practics Squad imo. Most teams only carry 5-6.

Think it'll mostly be about if they keep any WR specifically for ST ability or not.
I'd view locks to make the roster: Ridley, Ayomanor, ****, and Lockett.
I think it'll mostly be Restrepo vs Van Jefferson for the 5th/6th spot. Burks is going to get cut. I think if they plan on **** being the primary PR, then Restrepos chances of making the final 53 are pretty good.

Easton Freeze is a Titans writer who has been pretty spot on with his info and predictions so far this spring. (He has been and continues to say the Titans will trade Will Levis before fall camp. He thinks they will keep Brandon Allen as the sole backup)

  1. Calvin Ridley
  2. Van Jefferson
  3. Elic Ayomanor
  4. Chimere ****
  5. Tyler Lockett
  6. Bryce Oliver
  7. Xavier Restrepo
. Basically, I see 4 locks on this team. Throw in Tyler Lockett, who I think is more “likely” than he is a “lock”, and you’ve got the first five names on this list.
In the three-man race between Oliver, Restrepo, and James Proche, I think Proche ends up the odd man out. This would be what’s best for the team, frankly, because a cut Proche means somebody with more offensive upside took the mantle at returner as well.

I think the Titans absolutely keep 7 receivers this year. There are enough interesting players in this room to justify it, and more importantly, they don’t have more than 3 RBs and 3 TEs that need to be on this team.

Sounds about right, he has a good chance to make the team.

I think this dude is SIGNIFICANTLY overvaluing Van Jefferson lol. Dude has done nothing and his contract is extremely cuttable. He was signed to a pre-dragt contract as a safety measure in case they didn't get who they wanted in draft. Then they got Lockett too. He has 476 combined yards last 3 seasons in 34 games. He's had 1 good year in his career. Id bet on 1 of Jefferson or Lockett not making the team or at least not being on the team past like week 4. And Locketss contract is basically fully guaranteed whole Jeffersons is not
