Restrepo on Gramlich & MacLain

Sidenote on Gramlich and MacLain= While Clemson graduates, they have been big Canes fans since they started this podcast last year. Mac, as a former OL guy, is a big fan of Mario. He talks about he reaches out to Mario sometimes to chat OL , etc.

They've been nothing but positive press for the Canes on their show and any time they make appearances on the ACCN shows..
100%... MacLain acts like a Miami fan..he doesn't have to wear a Miami t-shirt and throw up the U going into breaks etc.

Had no idea they were Clemson graduates. MacLain in particular is like a little kid on Christmas talking about Mario. I’m sure it’s an OL thing but yeah they are great.

Agreed.

I’m including myself in this, but has there ever been a more underappreciated player?

I think we get bogger down with speed/size attributes when production is smacking us in the face. Hes a bad man.
Yeah his production is obviously great. The consistency no matter who is the QB

The little things that pop up like earlier this year when Chase Daniel was breaking down Cam’s Florida film and he’s like “I have no idea how this receiver knows this is a CB blitz but he does”

The way he blocks. Everything really

Mac Lain**

I spent too much time looking for the McClain pod. Don’t be like me.
Never stop getting better

No complacency

Good spotters need good spotters

You recruit 3-4 kids like him in each class and your in the national title convo every year. He absolutely would have fit in perfectly in any era of the UM golden age era. And I think he was a 3* recruit.

I hate to write this but Dabo has historically done a good job of finding a player like X who was often undervalued because of measurables but produced at a high rate.

Can @Coach Macho confirm his playing DB statement…was he a better DB? I remember watching DFB play and he was playing NB/S and I thought he was an animal on Defense. He played all over in the game, some RB and Slot too. I wanna say he was #21?

He could've easily been a D1 defensive player. He also scored 30 points at Quarterback versus St. Johns (DC) when our starter went down.
