REPORT: Miami HIRING Favien Upshaw at RB Coach

If you’ve heard the Scott Satterfield interview, he mentions Mario likes to meet a lot of coordinators and have his whole staff there so they can get Intel on how different coaches do different things.

Recruiting will always be something Mario pays attention to with his staff, but hiring a guy like this with no top-notch recruiting experience might signal that he values some of the development or scheme knowledge he’ll be bringing from that Sean Payton system.

Not saying he’s the next Joe Brady being a RB coach but don’t think it’s a coincidence he plucks someone from arguably the best offensive mind on the planets staff.
One of the guys that is a coaches agent that I know, stated that was one of the main reasons Merritt was hired. Dawson wanted a football coach first, someone he could bounce ideas off of. He didn't care for a straight recruiter at the RB position

Exactly what i was thinking this hire was..its why mid season we could adjust our run game

Dawson obviously needs help in the run game, he’s from an air raid tree that just added inside zone, mario/mirabal added duo thats not enough

We should hire more offensive and defensive analysts too, i like both of our coordinators but having extra experienced knowledgeable eyes to adjust and self scout is how you hit your peak at the right times

Sean Payton puts extreme emphasis on his RB coaches and what he wants from them. They have to be able to do it all and understand every single detail of the offense.

The amount of really good to great running backs that he coached that have done serious damage in the NFL in all areas of the field is underrated. Darren Sproles had 300+ targets during his time with the Saints, Reggie Bush had close to 300 targets in his first three seasons, Pierre Thomas was an extremely underrated runner in the screen game, not to mention Alvin Kamara and what he did in the league. If you can't catch passes as a RB and not pass protect, you're not playing. And that level of prep falls on the coaches as well.

Plainly; you regularly post negative opinions focused towards the staff on the recruiting board without substantiating your statements when asked to do so by other posters. So to seek the same in return is..

I'm just being honest.

This is not the hill you want to die on.

I assure you, @Hurracanes absolutely knows what he is talking about.

I can't speak to "negative opinions" vs. "positive opinions". It is possible you might be taking greater notice of the negative ones, but I'm not trying to criticize.

As for substantiation, that is a VERY hard thing to do on recruiting info. We all know this. That's why we have to grant some credibility to the guys who know things, and I promise you that he knows things.

Sometimes things turn around. Lyle was as good as gone....until he wasn't.

But I know that @Hurracanes is on campus quite frequently. I would trust his info.

I was being honest as well, and there's no hill to die on. "Hes on campus quite frequently" yet asks on a message board to others that are not on campus as frequently if "this is the best we can do?" in regards to a coaching hire. Based on your response, it's assumed that he has more information than most posters here, which makes the comment even more suspect.

My comment was made with the information I've observed over the past few years, he responded, I have nothing left to say about it.
