Remembering Jerome Brown

So for a younger guy like myself I love hearing about the OGs who came before especially on the DL that I never had a chance to watch.

I know this question is going to be up for debate but can you or someone else give me a genuine eval on Jerome Brown/Russel Maryland/ Cortez Kennedy. Play style? Who was more dominant? 1tech/3tech? Today's comparison?
Thinking more about it, if I wanted to compare their games (them as college players to current pros, just to make it easy), here’s what I’d say:
Jerome - Suh. Totally dominant. Elite at everything. Needs to be accounted for on every snap.
Maryland- Jurrell Casey. Thick, strong dude who could overpower even double teams, but also had enough suddenness to be a problem as a passrusher.
Tez - Fletcher Cox. The kind of athlete that makes you know he wasn’t a DT all his life. Fast, explosive, relentless in pursuit. Comes off the ball in an instant.

He wasn't Dan Sileo, but he was a solid DT, for sure.

And ol Buddy Ryan knew a little something about finding defensive players getting him and Reggie White - at least I think he drafted them both when he was HC at the Iggles.

RIP JB. My Lord, has it been 28 years? It was just frigging yesterday I was standing behind him at Greentree trying to see around him. **** allergies.

When i was about 11 in 86 saw Jerome at a canes basketball game.. He was already my favorite player. Went up to him to get an autograph. He was sitting with a bunch of other football players. The band was playing, it was loud. I stood there probably for 5 minutes saying, ."Hi Jerome, can i get an autograph".. I was tiny and quiet. It was loud. Jerome didn't even notice me for the longest time. Finally he did, gave me an autograph, was awesome dude. I'll never forget that experience at the James L. Knight center.

My JB story: my freshman year at Miami, 1983. I'm walking past the Student Union with my younger sister. Two guys are sitting there watching us. Me, being a ****y kid from the Bronx, looked at them and said, "that's my sister." I later found out it was Jerome Brown and Kevin ***an aka Testy (cause that dud was juiced (allegedly)). Anyway, I am fortunate they were tired from practice or were otherwise uninterested in beating the brakes off me. So, I'm still breathing.
