Remember, Anyone...Anytime...Anywhere??

God I just detest every single one of those teams. Can’t stand Oklahoma for sure. Side note: anyone here old enough to remember a good Oklahoma defense??
Honestly when was that. Early Stoop years?

This thread is what I call getting ahead of ourselves.

Not it's not. Like it or not we are playing Clemson in a couple weeks. Some people think Clemson is absolutely unbeatable. That's been said about many other teams that Miami has played in the past. As CIO pointed out, Miami used to love taking down giants.

They are far from unbeatable. It’s an excellent team, but hey, they’re human.

This.

Give Lawrence time and he'll pick you apart. His weakness is when there's pressure in his face.

We need to do two things to win - first we HAVE to stop the outside run better than we have been, and second we can NOT let Lawrence have time in the pocket to pick us apart or give him a lot of easy throws.

There, that’s the the truth. Can we? It’s possible. Will we? That’s what we hope. This not the same as we will. But I get your exuberance, we are all experiencing it.

I don't know that I'd call it exuberance so much as finding a reason to believe. Its like an older former champion boxer stepping into the ring with the new younger champ. He knows his opponent is bigger, faster, and stronger. But the former champ doesn't think "Well, I just want to make it respectable." The ex-champ can reach deep and think about all the times that he was on the ropes and fought his way out. That's me, as a Canes fan, thinking of the many times that Miami was an underdog against a top team, and we shocked the world.

The older fighter has a strategy to win- he isn't getting his arm raised by playing it safe and trying to stay out of range, slipping in punches. The young champ is too fast. Instead his best chance is to get inside and fight as dirty as he can get away with. Clinch. "Accidental" Head butts. Clinch. some more Lean on the champ and try to sap his energy. Throw some rabbit punches. He'll do whatever he can to slow his opponent down, frustrate him, and force him to make a mistake. Then throw bombs as soon as he gets an opening. Are the odds stacked against him? Of course they are. Yet no self-respecting fighter who has been on top is going to concede the fight before it starts.

I mean this well, and hope you consider it: Write a novel. You have great material!
