Relax... Take it easy

Calm Down Al Pacino GIF

On the bright side. We still beat a well coached Wake by two scores even when we ran the shell offense for most of the second half.

Additionally, for anyone who wants to join the island chillers (preferred derogatory term instead of sunshine pumpers), or is already here yet are being tempted by snake in the garden of cis, remember other teams have guys too lol

This is definitely a manic fandom…the pendulum swings from one extreme to the other - no middle ground exists. Yes, there are problems. First two cupcakes never tested this team. WF was the first one to test this team. Short of missing or injured pieces, I fully trust the coaching staff will fix this. I look forward to a fine season.

Get some sleep. Enjoy tomorrow's slate.

Extra day of rest for the team. Central Michigan next at home gives an opportunity for some extended rest.

Team and staff will be better than fine when it matters.
Brother you ain't worried about this defense I don't know what to tell ya, we got problems

Ill join in on the positivity.

Wake Forest is a solid team, not ***. They went 9-4 last year while beating ACC champ contender Virginia, beating SMU who beat us, and going to OT and losing by 1 to GT, and beating the **** out of SEC school Miss State.

Im saying they arent terrible. Not as bad as were used to with the name Wake Forest.

With that said, we were up 31-7 and had a bad flag flip momentum. Momentum took over after that. It was a friday night game on the road, sold out crowd.

And yet, we won by double digits. Didnt need a miracle like against Cal, or a last second like against VT.

Also, remember these boards afyer the SMU loss last yr. Rabid dogs in here, me included, and the team improved heavily. It was a different team, so what you see today is not what you get in a month.

3-0 (and 2-0 on ACC play). Im not a blind Homer, i can write a book about my concerns rn, but also I like to keep a balanced perspective.

Idk I just watched a disgusting half of football. I need to never see 65 take the field for a supposed championship contender again… 70 snaps for him and no rotation in of the young guys? I thought we were getting them live reps to take over midway through the season?

That was bad, bad football. Wake tf up against Clemson.

We need to heal up for October and also schematically adjust our lines.

At least we play an "easy' game before going into Clemson.
Clemson will additionally be an easy game. They’re dreadful. Their quarterback will improve after two full games, but not enough to threaten us given how the rest of the team is performing.

I fully expect them to be 1-3 when we play them.

UNC and VT will be our toughest opponents outside of ND imo. To a lesser extent, Pitt & Duke. Maybe FSU joins that Duke/Pitt group if norvell has been fired and they get a boost from that + the rivalry game. So Heavy on the maybe it’s highly unlikely.

Clemson at home is going to throw the house at us like Wake did. Still think we can win even if Fletcher and Marty are out. Hope Jordan can play though.

VaTech got off their nuts finally like we did. They are going to improve a ton under the Coaching staff. They just might be our 2 toughest game this season.

We must heal up.

1. Run blocking is nowhere near good enough. Against Stanford it was worrisome but game 1. It was not great last week against FAMU. Run game was good, but they didn’t dominate like they should. Now it’s a real problem. The tackles have been ok. Not good enough but ok. Same with Rodriguez. Buchanan could be replaced (although one of their better pass protectors thus far. Even tho nobody has been very good in that either), and SJ has been dreadful. Who the **** said Cantwell and Congdon would start??? Clearly they’re not ready. Congdon has been literally unplayable. I really thought Cantwell might get in at OG in the second half. This line cannot push against Stanford, wake, and really not well enough against FAMU. Have to figure it out before really good teams.

2. 2nd half offense without healthy Toney was weird. Nobody could get open down field. And they hardly threw it downfield. Tons of screens without numbers or good blocking. Didn’t help that they couldn’t run the ball

3. The defense without OJ and Lucas is concerning. I’ll check PFF tomorrow to see how many targets/yards Damari gave up but I don’t remember seeing him much tonight so I think he played well. It’s the linebackers. And that includes Thornton bc he has played 0 deep safety snaps this year. They’re too slow to cover backs and smaller fast tightends. And part of that is just being slow processors and watching guys run by before the lightbulb turns on. Run defense is pretty good even though there were 100 missed tackles tn on 8 and 10. The pass rush is not nearly good enough. Yes they’re causing penalties but it is in no way dominant or controlling. Wilson has been a major disappointment so far. Blount and Lightfoot not taking the expected jump. Even Moten hasn’t been very good, albeit playing hurt a lot. Heatherman was really in his bag tn with all the exotic blitzes, but that was the other way to create constant havoc.

I think tn was alarming enough for the staff to probably make some necessary changes, or at least work them in. Good opportunity to get right next week, but as bad as Clemson is (in 2 weeks), we can’t look like this against them. All the faith in the coaching staff and program, but there’s some real red flags that better get addressed next Saturday

We can probably beat Clemson with 21 points scored.

If I’m picking a conference L , it might be @ UNC with that DL they have

Love your positive vibes but there are some glaring holes that need attention. But some key guys need to get healthy.
I agree and disagree at the same time.
1. I agree there are holes that need attention, but it's hard to expect much from the defense when your top three corners are out. And that forces your best playmaking safety to fill in at one of the corner back positions. The linebackers are what they are. Not sure there's anything we can do about it but just hope they continue to play well in the run game for now.
2. It's hard to get upset with the offense. We had one sub par half the whole season so far. And again, that was with your top two backs being down and also possibly the best player in CFB being on a pitch count.
3. We knew the line was going to be a work in progress. Two sacks in three games is better than I could have hoped for. But I do think there's room for improvement and they should continue to gel as the season continues.
4. I think we need to get the ball to Barkate more. I would also like to see Jacobs more on offense.

I saw that also. Injuries changes line play.

Agree with most of this but pushback on the first two games not testing us. Famu yes but Stanford absolutely did in the sense that they took away our run game completely.

Now the result was really bad for them however not every p4 team could do that to us even if they tried. Additionally, we caught lucky breaks in multiple third down drops off of nice throws by Davis.

Moreover, we pulled damari from PR (I doubt we ever see him again there) after his mistake in this game against wake. Wake forced damari into that mistake, completely baited him, based off of what he did against Stanford. We just got lucky there again w/ a penalty.

We ran better today against Wake Forest, and we needed it. Surely it was a combination of factors that led to that result; however I feel safe in saying Stanford was one of them.
