I'm a big believer that until we start redshirting our classes, especially Oline, we will suffer. Don't want 18 year olds playing 22 year olds with experience.

Any guesses on the year who shirts?

my take:

1/1 qb
1 /2 rb
2/3 wr
1/1 te
1/2 OL
1/1 DT
3/3 DE
1/2 CB
2/2 LB
2/3 S

and anyone else we add this month.

TVD will probably redshirt, I'd like to see him play in 4 games late in the 2nd half but I def think he shirts.

Daz Worsham needs a redshirt, showing up to the UA game weighing in at 164lbs is a clear indicator he'll need a full season to recover from the hip surgeries & to get bigger.

Chris Washington, Dominic Mammarelli definitely redshirts.

I assume Keshawn Washington will shirt as well, don't think he'll play much this year except ST's.

I think Chantz should redshirt too, he was injured late in his Senior season & even when he was healthy functional strength was an issue with him. He's a pure speed rusher that doesn't have a lot of versatility in his pass rushing, struggled vs bigger legit lineman at the Opening.

Rivers is the wildcard, I think ideally he redshirts, but with his talent & upside while being an EE I could see him possibly being a rotational lineman. I don't think he'll start, but unfortunately with how bad our OL 2-deep is its a very real possibility he could see meaningful snaps this season.

None of the LB's will redshirt due to how thin we are at LB, I don't expect Flagg to play much more than ST's & 2nd half vs Wagner/Temple etc.. Tirek Austin-Cave will play a lot, will be in the LB rotation heavy.

Jalen Harrell will play, Brian Balom will probably shirt as well but I could see him being a ST's guy.

Marcus Clarke ideally would redshirt, but due to our depth at CB he'll play, same for Dunson.

I personally would play Quentin Williams as a rotational DE, but with us having quite a few bodies there he probably shirts, but he has the highest upside amongst the TF DE's. Roberts will probably shirt too, but he's another high upside DL that could get in the rotation at DT.

Redding, Chaney, Knighton & Restrepo will all play plenty.

The days of red-shirting blue chips at top tier power 5 programs are done. Not saying a few won't do it & stick but most these kids will end up transferring (by choice, portal or being processed). Evaluations are key if coaches are looking for that (future depth).

I'd love to redshirt Daz but I don't think we're gonna have a choice but to play him. At a minimum in his 4 game max and try to redshirt him. We only have 4 WRs returning, with Redding (who I agree is certainly more physically ready and must play a lot) that's 5. Can you really run a whole season with only 5 WRs? Do we think Marshall Few can actually contribute in ACC games? FWIW we had 6 WRs play in more than 4 games last year. I'd be hard pressed to see how you can do it with 5. So unless Few can play, or unless Restrepo is played at WR and he proves he can play, I don't think they'll have the luxury on Daz.

The rest I pretty much completely agree with. And the kids who do redshirt, I hope the staff makes a concerted effort to get ALL of them into their 4 games. That game experience is invaluable and cannot be replicated in any other way other than taking bullets in a live game.

If we don't land a Grad Transfer WR by May, Daz probably will play due to lack of depth, but imho he needs a redshirt.

And agree the staff needs to keep the kids engaged & invigorated with the season if they're redshirted, it kills depth when your TF's transfer after their first year.

With the new transfer rule it makes since in every way of the imagination to play these kids efficiently. Don’t just burn these kids 4 games their redshirt like they did Payton while barely playing him in those games. If they are on the field utilize them

I think we need to wait a bit to see who else joins the roster.

Hopefully we don't have too many true Fr. playing this year.

That usually doesn't turn out well.

Bad hip and 164 lbs. He needs to redshirt. His body needs to be preserved.

I would hope that Chaney and Knighton are featured a ton in the passing game. I think they can be far more effective in the open field than the receivers we saw playing last year. The RBs, the two TEs, and Payton are the dudes I'd expect to get a ton of targets as we spread it out. Redding will play as he's physically ready. I don't see the need to throw Worsham out there and think it's a terrible idea.

I understand he needs to redshirt. I literally said that in my post. I also said that, unless Few or Restrepo can play, then the staff will not have a choice to give Daz what he needs. Obviously if he's injured or limited, he can't play and will redshirt. Obviously. I'm saying if he's healthy, I don't think they'll have the luxury to shirt him. Numbers are too thin. I wish they weren't because he needs to redshirt. But we'll see....I don't think he'll be able to unless we get another WR.

Oh man there's no way Rivers redshirts. Wish we could afford to but I don't see how it's possible, unless we bring in 2 stud grad transfer tackles.

There's a good chance we do bring in at least one GT OL who will enroll in May.

We're after Henry Hattis from Stanford. But I wouldn't be shocked if Rivers does play this year as a rotational OL at RT/G because we have way too much dead weight in our 2-deep.

Herbert, Hillery & Dykstra should never take another snap at Miami.

Let them settle it on the field. We hold back our young talent too much. Plus, Freshmans get four games to show & prove nowadays.

Cave is about 175, he needs a shirt before Flagg.
