I think All Conference is an EXTREMELY high bar at a school where Sean Taylor couldn't win a Thorpe and Willis McGahee, who produced a top 5 all-time season at RB, couldn't win a Heisman.
McGahee wasn’t even the top Rb that season (re the Heisman comment). Larry Johnson had more yards rushing on fewer total carries, 2,087 rushing yards total, more yards receiving and 20 TDs. Willis had more tds and played on a better team but also split votes with kenny D for heisman. Palmer was a weak choice but dorsey probably should have gotten it, not willis.

Didn't we have 6 All Conference players last year?

Maybe he's trying to motivate players with an attainable goal and if they put in the effort to reach it, they'll very possibly go further.

Thank you!! So many Miami legends were snubbed as All American political *** list

Pls don’t agree w/ that post. Lol.

Those were two HORRIBLE examples. Taylor was a Unanimous 1st Team All American & Willis was a Consensus 1st Team All American.

Now if u wanna talk snubbed from awards, which is a popularity contest, fa sho...but those two dudes were All Americans, just like Dorsey, Winslow, Morgan, Vilma, Hester, Rousseau, etc. We’ve had, I believe, 35 All Americans; particularly flooded CFB w/ All Americans from ‘83 - 05.

So what @The Franchise is basically saying, from our history, an all conference type player is low. Now, I will say we gotta start somewhere; but if a player is not at least 1st team all-conference then there’s no need to get hyped, on soul.

I have to honestly say I’ve barely payed any attention to any individual awards, other than the ones that slap you in the face like the Heisman, and only because of the unrelenting publicity.

I do have a general idea that we’ve been snubbed over the years on numerous occasions for these awards, but it’s not something I spend much time or mental effort agonizing about.

I do think the conference, as well as the national honors, are a good form of recognition for the players, but for me, winning is much more important.

You sounding silly rn.
let’s be clear all American voting is mostly political and can be skewed for whatever reasons..for you to act like a all conference player is just average is crazy asf. That means a lot of Miami greats who were all conference and didn’t get the nod from the national beat writers to be all Americans were just reaching the “low bar” of success.

yea the all American list can be more prestigious. But there’s clear examples of guys getting that nod historically whose play that particular year did not deserve it. At least ACC coaches who face the guys on that list actually have to game plan and coach against these guys..but sure man lots of big East all conference jags
You're right. We should have Wake Forest expectations while recruiting at a top 12 level.

That comment from our coach had nothing to do with Thorpe or Heisman awards anyway. These excuse making low bar, low expectations, low T worms always try to spin **** in a woe is me loserish fashion.

The coach said "we have an All Conference player in this room." Yeah. So what? We've been having All-Conference players here forever. I don't get why that's considered setting some sort of standard by the Low T crew.

I'm certain it was just motivation the he believes in their potential and has been thought about here more than it was there.

I'm not a mope, but this just seemed appropriate here.

“An All Conference player in this room” is a pretty low bar with a room full of 4 star recruits playing in the ACC. You guys act like these coaches are coaching at BC or Duke where having an All Conference player is something to celebrate.

I didn’t see anything wrong with that statement other than it was setting the bar low.
Maybe, but it would still be an improvement.

I also notice that player was in a singular form vs. plural. Lol. But U’re right, we’ve been 2nd team, 3rd really All ACC central, lightly sprinkled in w/ an occasional 1st team All ACC.

Now, I hear The Big East wasn’t some world beater conference just like the ACC is currently not some world beater conference. Well, the difference between us then & us now is that we dominated the previous conference. When those boys made All-Conference, they were vying for All-American. The All-Conference was a formality. Now? ****, the only reason y we have a winning record against a basketball school in UNC since 2004 is due to “vacated wins” against us. LMAO. Furthermore, fans & coaches get hyped when a “leader” on def makes 2nd or 3rd team in a **** poor conference. Smh

This watered down version of Miami football has infested the fans, making it OK to be “proud” of a new position coach stating ONE guy in the room is an All-Conference player. I look forward to seeing at the very least multiple 1st team all conference players that r vying for All American consideration under the new staff.

I agree - however it's a pretty high bar to be voted as an All-Conference player in the ACC when you play at Miami. You basically have to be a first round Draft pick for the Tobacco Road Mafia to overlook the U on the side of your helmet.

G Willis and Jaelan Phillips were our most recent snubs

ND had 5 1st teamers on the all ACC team. 19 total listed, 1st team through Honorable Mention.
UNC- 3/15
Miami -1*/9

These numbers don't align with the recruiting rankings.

* ST player
I could be wrong, but at least of offense and DL, I think part of it is this new age philosophy that everyone has to play cause we play somewhat up tempo. Manny was saying he 2as ok with 12 wrs and all should play.... wtf??? Play best 4-5 and that it’s. Each of our offensive guys splits time and doesn’t get enough touches. Can’t imagine sitting some of our old WRs etc.

Lol BC's WR's and DB's looked fantastic last season. The corners even turned their heads to find the ball.

All Conference players from BC are entitled to a lifetime supply of OTPHJs at Mary Anne’s, so they have that going for them which is nice
