Recruiting

Usc landed two 5 stars. And they didn’t even make a bowl game

See my post in the "Bags aren't the problem" thread. You either need a coach that can outperform on the field, or one that can punch above his weight class in recruiting. It's a systemic problem.

We essentially had a corpse at head coach.

His sideline demeanor, his mannerisms in interviews, the way he spoke — everything about Richt said sad old defeated man here on retirement.

You can’t have one of the worst offenses in the country, along with that type of head coach and expect to recruit well. Last year won 10 games and the Coastal and got a top 10 class because we were exciting and won.

We need to hire an OC that’ll hang up points and help us win 10 games. We also need recruiters on the staff and to evaluate the guys not pulling their weight.

Things should help level off by then.

Ppl keep bringing up fsu. smh okay they struggled the past 2 yrs.... Before our 10 wins last yr, we hadn't won 10+ games since 2003...... 20...03. that's all that need to be said.

Winning is very important but it’s just part of the game.

The Noles stayed home from a bowl and were sHT last year and they are 15 right now.

Yea winning is a part of it but there’s other things involved as well.

Yea but it’s also the first full year recruiting for Willie. If it was year 3 for Willie and he sucked that much I doubt the recruiting class looked like it does for him.

People talking about bags, but it’s bags AND winning. Winning is more important right now. Then if we have to play the bag game, we play it to compete with other winning programs. But do you actually think a kid is gonna pick a school that went 7-6, had a horrible offensive, players leaving the program, and losing half the staff? Wake the **** up. Some of you guys think that watching The U doc is enough to have a kid commit to us. That doesn’t mean ****. When we win, then we’ll have a chance. Until then, it will be the same **** every year.

Money and the fact that programs had a plan B for when kids left them at the altar. We need to recruit nationally. Kids in Pa, NY, Ohio, and Washington (and other states) would all love what the U has to offer. Kids in south florida are not as impressed because they grew up around the U and it's starting to show.

We can't match money with top end programs but we can show kids a paradise that some have never seen. We also need to identify those "hidden gems," in every class like butch did and DEVELOP them. 5* and 4* are great but we missed on a ton this year and we need to face reality that our pathway back is grabbing top 15 classes and developing the crap out of 3* players.

GO CANES!!!

What people have to realize is this, alot of those other schools been paying players for years, this is another reason why Miami was hated and schemed against, cause we were still beating the crap out of teams. Now the other scheme, its not a coincidence that alot of players from Miami are going to the security & exchange commission conference now. In the old days, we wasnt trying to leave Miami and go to redneck states. It was more self awareness back than. The difference now is the local coaches have a different mindset than back in the days, plus the UM administration wanted to get snazzy, so the football program is not what it once was. The players are still here, but people seeing different players families come up after signing with s.e.c. schools.

But even up against all that, we still gone be a problem if manny makes the right moves.

So what about FSU, they are **** and still put together a pretty good class.
I like Jedi but this is facts winning will only help only us but when other teams dont win they get studs. These rules only apply to us for some strange mystery magical reason

I agree. This recruit and shut off the “ state of Florida “ BS is old and played out.

Yea there are plenty of studs in S.Fla but they are not loyal in the least. Its been all about them since they were in optimist and it’s all about them at the HS level.

Is it any surprise that some of our biggest ambassadors HAVE NOT been from S.Fla.Seems kids that come here from out of state or out of the “ State of Miami” that choose to be Canes are the most loyal.you very rarely see one of them flip once they commit.Theyre here cause they LOVE The U.

Schools like a LSU and USC ,Bama,Texas, etc don’t have to worry about kids bolting and where their loyalty lies. They get first pick of who they want for the most part in state.

Things have changed and there are studs everywhere We just need to stop worrying about ****ing off guys like Uncke Puke and the local HS coaches start worrying about the U and go find kids that WANT to play here. They sure as FCK ain’t loyal to Miami. With them it’s all about the money.

We have 25 scholarships a year to give out.Get 10-15 kids that WANT to be Canes and go nationally to get the rest. The U is a national brand.Guarantee we can find 10-12 great players that want to be part of the U legacy. To wear that U.

Winning cures everything. String together a couple 10 win seasons and we'll get a good amount of these kids. We're never going to get them all, but the Boggles of the world will come.

I thought coaches could only retweet... Can coaches @ a player? Rookie mistake? Serious question.

The elite kids are looking for an NFL spring board... so when Lingard & Pope are made to ride the pine, that sh*t gets noticed too. You work your 5*s to death and you feed them the ball, thats their reward, thats how you land the next 5*. 5*s are 3 & done, many 4*s are also or think they are. Sell them their dream, make it so Miami is the best NFL spring board... you cant do that if you wont fire underperforming coaches.
