Recruiting

I am of the belief that all of the high end recruits still on our board are signed, sealed, and delivered to other schools.

There are some good players still out there that are Miami quality, but they aren't the high end 5* and 4*, unfortunately. This kind of year and offseason do not have a strong finishes on the recruiting trail.
Probably correct but hope is all we have at this point and the past few days has created a buzz atleast.

Asante Samuel or Chris Henderson immediately come to mind. The heritage kids were never coming here so I'll let rumph slide on those.
Samuel would have come if we’d offeed earlier. According to the rumors on these boards, Rumph actually wanted to offer earlier, but some combination of Banda/Diaz/Richt didn’t.

Yep. He burned a lot of bridges with the high schools. I don't know where people get the notion that he is a good recruiter.

Kind of scary but I have to believe Manny's done his due diligence on this and either Fedora won't be a main recruiter or he's figured something out.

For the last 12 years we have filled our staff with “recruiters”. Personally I’m tired of it give me a X and O guy who doesn’t give a **** and the recruits will line up. Just my opinion
I mean, Wisky's recruiting classes are never anything to brag about yet they made us their ***** each of the lasts two seasons. Bunch of 5* aren't much good if you can't get them the ball.

Big Q on Diaz is recruiting. Interested to see how his staff addresses this critical need.

The offensive staff is pending a new OC.

We have potential slots on defense, including a DC.

Rumph has not proven a recruiter and the DB spot usually needs to recruit and especially in Miami needs to recruit given our local talent base.

Banda hasn’t exactly proven enough at recruiting either. nor Patke. I know Diaz likes them but neither is compelling as a DC. He has some tough choices to make, for sure.

And neither has dIAZ.....not a good recruiter so he better hire some

I love following recruiting, and its hard for me to say this but i agree with you. Richt and the offensive side recruited pretty good. Were loaded with 4 stars everywhere on that side of the ball, even on the o line. And they all played like ****. On defense, not so much, but we were one of the best in the country on that side.

For me, the most important thing is coaches that FIT. That there scheme fits our athletes. That they can simplify things so our players can play fast and dominate. Just like what Manny did on defense. That they fit our identity of being fast, phyisical, and violent. Every single coach that we hire. If we do that, we will attract the kind of players that we need. Whatever the star rating. Load me up with the Eddie Johnsons of the world.

That being said, i hope he has something in place for recruiting lol. Manny was my dream hire, but I admit i was confused with some of the recruiting. Ecpecially waiting so long to offer some kids. Its the one area id like to see him grow.

For what it's worth, I'm pretty sure that if this team can just start putting up points consistently and translate that into more wins....and at least compete better against elite teams, recruiting will start to seem easier.

None of Manny's assistants have distinguished themselves any more than the offensive staff that got axed. The key difference is that they had the benefit of not being in a flawed, defective system. D recruiting has been nowhere near good enough.

Rumph, worse than being a bad recruiter, actually repels kids away. Banda has the will and energy but repeatedly gets played. And Patke? Who's he going to bring in? Simpson, he hasn't shown much either.

If Manny is really the savage that many think he is, and truly serious about winning at the highest level, the purge should not be done.

We will know a lot more when we see all positions filled. For now, I'm gonna believe Maunuel is going to get this right. We shall see shortly.
