Big Q on Diaz is recruiting. Interested to see how his staff addresses this critical need.

The offensive staff is pending a new OC.

We have potential slots on defense, including a DC.

Rumph has not proven a recruiter and the DB spot usually needs to recruit and especially in Miami needs to recruit given our local talent base.

Banda hasn’t exactly proven enough at recruiting either. nor Patke. I know Diaz likes them but neither is compelling as a DC. He has some tough choices to make, for sure.

Recruiting is one of the aspects I'm most curious about. Sounds like the administration is finally willing to start spending serious money on the football program and I'm hoping Manny puts together a strong and robust recruiting staff of assistant coaches and off field assistants.

Banda was the lead recruiter for: carter, hall, ivey, smith, and frierson.

I wouldn't even care what this cycle looks like. It was a complete failure and nothing you do will fix it.

Moving forward? The staff needs recruiters EVERYWHERE.

I am all for bringing in scumbags, bagmen, salesmen, slimeballs, whatever. Bring in Coley, Seider, Tee Martin, idc. Recruiters need to be everywhere.

We can not get outworked on the trail. Just like Manny said...he wants the offense to mimic the defense. Fast aggressive violent. Well, I want to see the recruiting trail mimic the defense. All out blitz, all of the time. Need grinders and dogs. If we don't have those...forget any improvement.

Yeeeeeeea, I been thinking about that too. Even if he bring in Fedora(from rumor reports) and Lamar Thomas(from rumor reports), we still need some ace recruiters. Losing Ron Dugans to FSU( from rumor reports) is not only a blow from a recruiting side but a boost to FSU. I think people may have forgotten FSU just hired Briles as an OC and with Dugans recruiting, that could be a deadly combo. It took Taggaert one year to realize that silly *** "lethal stupidity"...I meant SIMPLICITY offense wasn't going to fly and made changes immediately .Aside from good position coaches we need some ace recruiters. Ask Bama, Clemson and Georgia, championships are won on the recruiting trail in addition to developing what you get. If Mario didn't learn anything else form Ole St Nick (because it looks like he really can't coach) he learned that.

The change that needs to be made on the recruiting trail is to not ignore the Plan B kids.

From what I've read we fall in love with the 4 and 5 star guys then ignore the backup plan until 3 days before signing day when it's obvious the coveted player is off to the SEC.

We've been caught in that trap again this year.

I love this prospective hire and I hope you are right, but when Fedora's name first surfaced here, some Carolina Canes pointed out he had some run-ins with NC high school coaches and things didn't go too well. Doesn't mean South Florida wouldn't be different.

It’s not just about plan B. We need to have a clear ability to decide who is a take, and take kids we think are takes whether we have someone else ranked higher or not.

Our staffs over years have lost so many kids because we create a ranking and then work linearly down it. Alabama will take a 3* kid’s commitment early if they believe he merits it. Just requires that you trust your evaluation ability and actually do evaluate well. Also, when we take a commitment, we really need to keep recruiting the kid. Taking a commitment then assuming the kid will honor it is a fools errand. And likewise, when we take a commitment, we need to keep recruiting other kids also at the spot. Otherwise we’re left holding our junk when the kid we counted on flakes. You cannot have a plan B if you pack it in after a commitment. But it doesn’t have to be a plan B, either. Keep recruiting even better kids, is what we should do. If someone better commits over a kid we took a commitment from, great. If the first kid wants out, whatever. If our staff is running around telling kids they’ll be our only take at a position in a given year, then we’re doing it wrong.

Based on the way we closing thats a big red flag to me on success or not so we will see..........not confident either cause I know if we hired a high quality recruiter Butch or unrealistic names like Saban Meyer Fisher Mario Kirby (I know we wouldnt hire unrealistic guys just using it as an example) we probably would land Stevenson and other immediately. Those are the elite savages they get the job and hit the ground running, I will watch 2019 to see how that goes.

Could still be greatly improved IE Stevenson Hazelwood etc

I am of the belief that all of the high end recruits still on our board are signed, sealed, and delivered to other schools.

There are some good players still out there that are Miami quality, but they aren't the high end 5* and 4*, unfortunately. This kind of year and offseason do not have a strong finishes on the recruiting trail.

UNC fans would say this is one of his weaknesses.... Doereen beat him out head to head a bunch and he lost just about every elite in state kid except for Elijah Hood
Yep. He burned a lot of bridges with the high schools. I don't know where people get the notion that he is a good recruiter.

For the last 12 years we have filled our staff with “recruiters”. Personally I’m tired of it give me a X and O guy who doesn’t give a **** and the recruits will line up. Just my opinion
