Recruiting Question

The stadium situation is a problem, far beyond what we dare concede. It's laughable when some fans try to deny it completely.

Football stadiums are the centerpiece of college campuses all over the country. I visit campuses for the first time every year. I set the GPS to the stadium address but soon it stands out in the distance so I merely drive in that direction. When I'm walking on that campus and stop someone to ask a question, invariably they'll say something like, "I know you want to see the stadium. It's always open. You can walk right in."

I'll tell them thanks but I've already done it...that it was the first thing I did.

The Canes can launch pretend mode during the season itself. The games actually look like a college football atmosphere. Turnover chain and all types of distractions. College Game Day on campus, looking great. So it was hardly a surprise that we fared well in December. That change was a monumental benefit to the program.

But once you get beyond the season itself and kids are visiting in January and February, that vast gap between a traditional college layout and the one Miami offers is never going to work in our favor. All the other coaches can walk kids around campus and point out the football offices and weight rooms and indoor practice facilities smack alongside the stadium itself. So incredibly convenient. Your buddies from school can walk from their dorms to watch you play.

What does Richt do...point his finger 40 minutes in the distance?

Consequently I'm never surprised when we lose ground in February. It shouldn't happen every year unless there's an accompanying big picture reason. Otherwise the trend should shift back and forth. The pathetic cynics use terms like bags. The bags are an excuse for everything. Just like losing bettors assert every game is fixed.

My overview approach works great. I never have to waste time following recruiting, or even learning the names. Just apply the big picture tarp again at this time next year and every year.

Too bad Schnellenberger was denied in the early '80s. He understood the big picture more than anyone in program history.

OMG!!! We're Doomed!!

Losing BRIGGS TO FSU and CHATMAN TO UF are the worst things EVER to happen to this program.
Those were two of Florida's BEST CAN"T MISS prospects..:confusion:

??? What really they weren't ???
and both are viewed somewhat as projects

Losing Briggs and Chatman will not keep us from having our 1st top 10 class in years. I'd rather lose those two than any of the players we signed today that wanted to be here.

So in the end our so called "bad recruiters" got us a TOP 10 Class despite our year end swoon ...For some reason I'd like to say Congrats to them. GO CANES

What's our class ranking again? Still haven't answered that question. It's not a hard question! Come on Troll, step up to the plate, lol

Class ranking is part of a misleading equation. It doesn't take into consideration all of your pressing needs. You can recruit 20 5* DB's and you will have the #1 ranked class but at the end of the day what the **** do you have? Ask Richt, Diaz and Kool how pleased they were with their DL recruiting. They got their f*****g pockets picked. Bottom line broh and by the way, I've been a Canes fan for 40 years!

Answer the question? You're doing a lot to avoid that question, my Cane fan for 40 years. You're trying to hard to troll right now. Relax, it's a give and take relationship when it comes to trolling.

Actually, we did address our pressing needs, at RB, WR, TE, OL QB, DB (debatable) K, we missed out on DL..
See how easy that was!

Last year we barely addressed our WR issues at the very end but ended up dearly short of RB's and DB's. This year we addressed DB's, but came up way short in our biggest area of need, DL's and not enough DB's, according to Richt and Diaz. Our offensive linemen suck and recruiting will not fill holes created by departures. Next year, LB's are going to be a big issue, according to Diaz. You call this good recruiting? Ask Saban, or Meyer, or Fisher or Dabo. These guys do not lose underclassman and have no holes to fill. That's what I call great recruiting.

Bro...I'll give it to Canesinsight. They actually keep a record of all of your posts. Check your post history before we started this convo. Wanted to see how good you were, and Dude, your troll game is weak bro! But it's been fun! A Suggestion, used to Troll, during the wild wild west of the Internet, if you're going to troll, you have to post some positive stuff every now and then to reel them in!

Totally disagree with you. Not a matter of winning and losing. You have to post OBJECTIVE thought challenging stuff which is what I do. Also not here to be liked or disliked. In football, second place finish equals to first loser. If it looks like a duck, walks like a duck and quacks like a duck, then I will call it a duck because I'm not a follower like many of you are. I bleed orange and green, my main goal is to see our program get better and I will do what I can to challenge out thought processes to get there. I bet a lot of you talked very positive things about Golden, Shannon, etc. which by the way I did not. Take your blind folds off and realize right now, or two years from now that there was a reason Richt was fired from GA. I'm not a fan of the man as a football coach but love him as a Christian human being. I'm also not hear to get in a ****ing symantics filled contest with anyone. Everyone is entitled to their opinion and although I may disagree with yours, I will still think about it and respect it.

Around the 7:15 mark Richt talks about how a poor finish during the season can lead to some recruiting doubt.
When we were undefeated we were the hottest thing in college football. I'm sure recruiting was looking extremely bright at that time. When we took that 3 game skid it likely turned some kids off.

UF and FSU had poor records but they also bring in completely new staffs. That's their selling point. The coaches that did poorly at UF/FSU last season aren't there anymore. Now they can be sold a new dream.

Another laughable and predictable post by Dooger. Yes, if Miami just had an on campus stadium then Tyson Campbell would've signed with Miami! It is completely absurd to think that the location of the stadium has any effect on the decision making process of a recruit. What matters to recruits is proximity to home, relationship with the coaches involved and the chance to make it to the NFL, to name a few. Just listen to their interviews on why they chose a certain school. I've literally never read or listened to a recruit that said "well I didn't pick this school because the stadium was off campus." Sure, some recruits might like a college town over being in a large metropolitan city like Miami but that has nothing to do with a stadium and has to do with atmosphere of a small town compared to a large city.

And of course, in true Dooger fashion, he must end the post by patting himself on the back for his great "overview approach" and claiming that he was right after the fact. Captain Hindsight strikes again!

Don't agree at all .........
- When you go to a game like Miami ND or Miami Va Tech--- how did it feel ?
- Amazing ......right - and you were in the stands
- The programs that hurt us have that kind of amazing feel at every game
I went to the Virginia game & the stadium was half empty when we honored the seniors on their last game
- Miami DOWNSIZED its stadium ... that doesnt happen at any other major school

I will admit since the renovations --- much better feel but Stadium plays a factor

Why, year in year out, we can't retain our local elite 5* players, and schools like Alabama, Georgia, Ohio State, etc., come into our backyard and pick our best athletes, even ones committed to us? Something is very wrong with the way we recruit/compete against these schools. Even Florida State, with a lousy record this year and a new coach in place for <2 months, picked our pockets as well. UM needs to review their recruiting processes and fix this issue if we are to take the next step.

UM has hired 3 consecutive mediocre coaches. Don't worry. We will ***** up and hire a Savage in the future.

Bama’s successful recruiting started before success on the field.

Georgia had a top class under Kirby after after having a bad inaugural season.

OSU’s recruiting has remained dominant even going through so bad seasons.

FSU doesn’t even have a complete staff and taggert hasn’t done jack sh*t for these kids to have confidence in him. He’s basically the mike rumph of head coaches with a slightly longer resume.

Stop making excuses. You pay for play and our homegrown talent is always for sale. Nothing will change until certain individuals with power in the NCAA go away. It’s why bama can have a player say he received a $10,000 “loan” from his coach and the NCAA doesn’t even pretend to care.

They don't like it when you point out facts. They would prefer for you to make excuses for Richt.

Page 631 of the CanesInsight cliche playbook.

Next up, “how come our players don’t look like Alabama’s?” and “we can’t compete because we won’t pay for assistants.”

Alabama, Ohio State and FSU recruited excellently within the first years of Saban, Meyer and Fisher taking over, when they were not winning, so your point is not valid. The difference is that these coaches were not only excellent recruiters but they also had excellent recruiting staffs.

lol those scrubs had money. Without bags, none of those coaches could recruit. Richt don't have that luxury.

Not recruiting well at DL's and OL's spells disaster. The game is won in the trenches. Our DB's are not elite enough in order to make up for our DL under recruiting deficiencies. A couple of injuries on the DL will find us in deep s**t.

Our DT rotation is just fine. DE is where we're weak. Our OL is going to be elite, either this year (depending on how well Herbert and Hillery do) or next. So quit trolling dumbass.

Records dont mean ****, thats an excuse for losers. Recruiting and records of teams means nothing, this is how u know its bags bruh this is proof. Our bags are good but we cant go head up with those school regularly, there money doesnt end.

We need to produce on the field. Before Miami really became Miami (at a national level), almost all the top local players were filched by other schools.

It didn't happen as much during the 80s on and toward the last year or two of the Butch era, we got virtually everyone we wanted. First couple years of the Coker era, too.

With that said, our better recruiters and developers (Brown, Dugans and Kuligowski) won't lose very many of the big-timers in our backyard. Silvera is the AH guy who committed here. And Dugans is getting it done with locals players and big-time out-of-state players, too. Brown has a fine track record with RBs and picked up the top RB in the state this year as well as the top local RB.

Produce and we'll get most of the ones we want. That's the largest factor by far. We haven't produced in far too long, which is a bit tragic considering that there's so much talent in the backyard every year.

Some are drawn to stay home to play and others are drawn to college town atmosphere where college football rules, the city of Miami does not offer the latter.

Dumb. Bags are the sole reason we don't get 68% of the recruits come signing day. Crying about stadiums is idiotic.
