Recruiting Q & A (December 3rd)

Will Miami get one of Sony/Cook?

I still think yes, with Cook being more likely than Sony. Last night was big with Cook and Miami gets the last crack at him on his OV. FSU feels very, very good about landing him

Of those committed to Miami now, who do you see leaving and why?

Gray - won't qualify

Rosier - have never felt like he was completely solid. Has not returned messages or calls in months and the coaches seen to give Kaaya a lot more love

Turner - not a high priority for Miami right now

Mayes - putting this as a possibility. The longer they go without picking up a safety, the more likely he sticks out of necessity

Thoughts on DL Pelon and Johnson? Any chance to get both?

Haven't heard much on Johnson. Sarkisian leaving Washington puts an interesting twist on things with Pelon because it looks like that's where he was headed. If he gets recruited by USC, that could be his spot. His visit here will tell us a lot.

"I'm 100 percent solid to Miami," he said.

This seems to be directly contrary to the most recent article on Canesport about Rosier. In it, Rosier said that his only visit will be to Miami, and that he is 100%. He also says that Coley and him talk regularly, before every game, and the Coley will be doing an in-home with him soon.

Who are some 2015 names to watch out for?

From South Florida (off top of my head)

How do you know things are looking good with Griffin

Coaches have continued to stay in contact with him daily which is a stark contrast from a couple months back, where there was not much if a shot at all. The problem is that Griffin is not in school, so literally everything hinges on his ACT score

Who is the one local kid we aren't recruiting that you think we should be?

Michael Johnson - Safety from Champagnat

For three reasons

1) he's a legit top prospect at safety with size, speed, and ball skills. He will be 205 within the next year

2) huge position of need

3) as long as the coaching staff at Champagnat is there, they will have top D1 talent. Would be nice to start a pipeline there

Pete,

I'm hearing from a very prominent source in the Miami area who is around the situation regarding the recruitment of Dalvin Cook that Cook is basically paid for by FSU and he is just playing the game to cover his a**, by taking a visit and acting like he is unsure about where he will end up. Have you heard anything similar to this?
