Recruiting Numbers

Only Miami knows who was counted toward 2014 vs 2015 and this years EE toward 2015 vs 2016. Miami has to assign them to a class. So the max is 30 the min is 20. The issue isn't the limit per year but the number of kids allowed 84 and 105 (including walkons). No way we sign 30 kids! First, Richt would have to land 15 plus commitments in under a month. Second, Richt would have to push out kids here now for any kid over 20. That is frowned upon.

84 in 2016
85 in 2017

We can take around 28 based on EEs BUT would need 8 kids to depart as we have 15 spots left after the EEs took 5. I'd expect us to sign 20-25 kids knowing Mullins and Jackson may not qualify.

The EEs should count against last year's class, leaving us with 5 more spots for 2016.

I don't know the number, but we are not dealing with lost scholarships from sanctions. That is done with, I believe.

Next year is the last. Was 1 for 2015,2016 and 2017 separately.

actually he could take lost scholorships any year he wanted. golden used those already. were at 80 scholorship players for last year. golden had said prior to firing was finally past having less scholorships. was finally gonna be able to have a full number next year meaning 2016

The sanctions had 2 sentences that were vital to the scholarship situation. They went something like this:
(1) There shall be a reduction of 9 scholarships over a 3 year period ('14, '15, and '16).
(2) There shall be a reduction each year.

Lets look at what USC got. Theirs stated that they would have a maximum of 75 total scholarships and a maximum of 15 initial counters per year over a 3 year period.

UM's doesn't break the 9 down to 3 per year and there is no mention of the 25 limit at all.

(2) requires that UM take at least 1 reduction on the total counters each year and (1) requires that they take a total of 9 reductions over the 3 years.

I believe UM was at 78 and 80 total counters the last 2 years. If so, that is more than enough to satisfy (1), but they still must take 1 in '16 to satisfy (2) making 84 the total counter limit.

If I'm right about there being 80 counters for '15, then, if you strip off the seniors except for Hamilton (who plans to return), Burns (NFL), Brady (mutual agreement), and Crow and O'Donnell (neither appears on the '16 official roster), then the roster would be down to 65 (which would allow 19 under the 84 limit). If Richt wants to bring in any more then he would have to trim more off last years roster.

every year someone does the numbers by doing the math of how many seniors are departing etc and they come up with some ridiculous small number. never works out that way.

Yes! I just sit back and laugh at the breakdowns.

I guess and come closer , so IMO it'll be 25.

Wouldn't it be pretty easy to tell? Look at how many spots were available for the 2015 class and assume they counted as many EEs from this year against last year as possible. Any reason for them to not have done it hat way? I believe we had 5+ spots open from 2015 so I assume we would count all 5 EEs against that.

I'd try to keep it around 20 or so. Save room for EE's next year to count against this class, give yourself a full year to get your staff caught up on 2017, and go ham. Other than the big holes, we don't have a ton of PT to offer this year. Take the beasts and the best you can get and call it a day around 20.

Where exactly is their no playing time to be offered, besides quarterback I don't see any position that's safe.

Further more, EEs can happen even with a full 2016 class. It just means they will count toward the 25 limit of 2017. the real number we need to worry about is the max over two years which would be around 50-55 kids. Next year has 20 spots, this year is at 21 so 9-14 kids would have to depart early for us to get close to the max.
