He's not as good a NFL prospect, but I think he could potentially be as effective as a "college QB" as Ward. And that is saying a lot given that Ward is a Heisman candidate. Reason is Mateer is much more of a dual threat. What he lacks in accuracy compared to Ward is made up for by his better running ability. True Dual threat QBs are a cheat code for CFB.

Clearly it means he will be redshirted at Miami, but will be a first-team All-American at literally any other school.

There will be repercussions but schools are far less incline to dish out these 50 million dollar coaching changes. I just don’t think Day would get fired going 10-2 with two top 5 matchup losses and a CFP berth.
