Recruiter is #1 Priority

Recruiting is the most important factor in picking the coach. IMO

Dino and Campbell are scheme coaches, they can win with less, but will never been able to compete with Bama, UGA, OSU. They're not recruiters

Butch , Manny, Cristobal are the best options

Schemes can be built with a great staff.
It is imperative that they hit a homerun with this hire. It’s Mario or bust in my opinion. He has all the credentials we need at this point. He is a really good recruiter, has tons of connections in the state of Miami and seems very capable at assembling a quality staff.

Lincoln Riley @ Oklahoma is the best offensive mind in college football right now, and his team couldn’t compete with Alabama.
Another opinion stated as fact. Riley is good and OU is recruiting great because of his skill set. We don’t have to play the bag game like Bama, if kids like Jeudy, Surtain, Ingraham, Neal and Ridley were to see Us with a Lincoln Riley type really investing in the football program from the top to the bottom they will begin to sign with the Hurricanes. Our aura, history and brand is THE ONLY thing that can compete with bags. Bama closes all deal by pointing to the inadequacies of our coaching staffs and the lack of institutional support for our football program (complicit institutionalized complacency and mediocrity) And there is nothing these kids can say to defend Us.

Developement of players is most important,.

You can recruit who you want but if you can’t coach and develope these kids where you finish in the recruiting rankings won’t matter.

We’ve had staffs full of recruiters who were nothing more Than a bunch of Corches. Its time we go the coaches who are recruiters route.Kids want to play where they can win.

You win where you have the best coaches.

Yet he's close to 20 games under .500. So he can recruit, can hire quality coaches but somehow he doesn't have a winning record. Not even close to a winning record. He had the #1 QB projected in the draft and had a great DC and only won 8 games in the PAC. And you think he would be a homerun hire? Come on now.

He's 35-52.

Hiring him would be a massive mistake

Richt did not recruit fine. That is completely false.

Last years class was pretty good. The problem Richt had and the problem any other coach is going to have is success. Richt could have got us one of the top classes in the country had we not had ****** results. If we win then whoever we hire is going to be able to recruit.

You are not looking at recruiting seriously.

He took no OL his first year, which was a disaster after Kehoe had been here. He reacted by grabbing 5 the next year, very poorly evaluated. Then he takes 3 when he clearly needed 4 and this year he **** the bed ebola style on OL recruiting.

He ignored Kul ignoring DT for two years, and allowed our DT roster to evaporate. Diaz did well with Golden recruits on DL. Richt did not focus on either line remotely sufficiently.

Because he inherited 3 Golden prospects at LB his first cycle, LB got mostly ignored the next two years.

He had a consistent tendency to put all his eggs in one basket, believe what kids told him even when two thirds of this board knew and wrote publicly about what the reality was, and *most damningly* for a guy who was allegedly a QB whisperer, he played Al Golden kids at QB his whole time here, and they _got worse_!!! He didn’t recruit QB for ****, didn’t develop them.

He also allowed us to play with under 80 scholarship recruits his whole time here.

He had a good group but too few numbers in ‘18. Whatever. That isn’t recruiting well.

The last 6 years of Miami football is proof that talent loses to good coaching.

Nope. Nope and nope. Winning is #1 priority. Shannon Golden and Richt brought in good classes.

I don't think we need a elite recruiter over all other things. I think what we need more than anything else is a head coach that can relate well with today's young athletes, and be able to teach them the game along with instilling in them the work ethic it takes to translate talent into on field results. Now, normally any coach that relates well with kids is going to be a decent recruiter. But I don't just want to hire a guy who isn't a great teacher as well.

Randy was a great recruiter. Even had the number one class with many of those players from that great Northwestern class, but couldn't develop them.
Randy was abaolutely not a great recruiter. He was lazy, disorganized, had no plan, ignored entire Hs programs because who knows why, ignored position groups then overreacted, had weird size requirements that biased evaluations, and generally hated kissing kids ****s, which is part of recruiting. He had one highly ranked class, and that was in part because of overall numbers. Taking 7 kids from MNW doesn’t make you a great recruiter. Ironic that the kid who would end up the best football player from that Hs team we didn’t end up taking.

That is just it, no one is going to come in and put together the class you want with no results on the field. Richt put together fine classes at UGA and seemed to understand the talent into SFLA. His recruiting problem was he couldn't convince recruits he could win.

The entire premise of this thread is an abomination from the depths of Hades.

The LAST thing we need is a "recruiter". We need a GOOD GAMEDAY COACH WHO WILL GET US MORE WINS. Why? Because WINNING is, and always has been, the best recruiter in the country.

The best programs in America work within a cycle...that cycle starts with good leadership/admins (which we'll never have) then proceed to a good coach which leads to a winning upward trajectory, which translates into the ORGANIC improvement in recruiting from the public perception that the program is "on the rise".

We need a coaching SAVANT. You can hire recruiters within the staff. End the madness already.
