Recruiter is #1 Priority

We need a coach, Richt recruited fine.
To Compete with Bama , UGA, OSU you need an elite recruiter. When has a coach with less talent but a great scheme last won a Natty.
Mike Leeches/Chip Kelly/Chris Peterson are terrific coaches but talent always trumps them in the end.

Randy Shannon proved this wrong. He hauled in the best class in our history. Tell me again how that worked out.
He had 1 great class that's it, it has to stacked year over year. Look at Jimbo, Saban, kirby top 5 virtually every year

How hard they play for him or how well he recruited? He’s an introvert and a choir boy. Respectfully he struggled to get highly rated recruites. He didn’t keep up with his assistants or the kids they were going after. He focused on his recruits and that’s about it. He “might” be a GREAT recruiter from the head coach spot, but as a DC, he left a lot of meat in the bone.
I put that on Ritch...The program was toxic on every level
I see Manny as the next Dabo if hes given the keys

Look at Jimbo. After his once in a lifetime QB left, how did he do? You must be able to coach, because recruits won’t keep signing up for a loser. Richt was a good recruiter, but look what losing did to this class.

I keep seeing people talk about Mario, but why is his record so bad if he’s such an elite recruiter?

Give me an elite coach and elite recruits will follow. A good coach once said that coaches known as great recruiters were rarely great coaches, because great coaches are known for more than just recruiting. That is what Miami needs.

Here is JJ's recipe for championship HC...

"Hire the best assistant coaches you can find and get the he11 out of their way."

Bring me someone who believes that leadership philosophy and the rest will take care of itself..

Recruiting is the most important factor in picking the coach. IMO

Dino and Campbell are scheme coaches, they can win with less, but will never been able to compete with Bama, UGA, OSU. They're not recruiters

Butch , Manny, Cristobal are the best options

Schemes can be built with a great staff.

Could not disagree more. Bring me an energetic scheme savant with a sharp serrated edge to his attitude and the recruits will be begging to play for us.

Richt just proved without a doubt that begging kids to come play for a stale boring old scheme is not an approach that will work here.

Let this be the end of this notion, please.

Your last sentence is what’s most important.
Schemes and a great staff/coaching = the Recruits will come!

Totally agree. Bring in the top talent adapted to your scheme. Hire brilliant OC/DC coaches to implement the scheme. Butch and Mario fit this. Mario can bring Jim Leavitt.as DC. An excellent OC will not be hard to hire based upon the talent level in the area Butch has the relationships to hire excellent coaches. You need the top level talent first and foremost

Miami is different , what makes this program different from others the Recruiting Area the number of elite players at their doorstep, coaching never made us great. Shellenberger said it best his #1 priority was to put a fence around the area. Then couple that with a good staff success will come

I’ve had the pleasure of interacting with this staff multiple times. Manny is a very cool cat. He’s not a big talker. He’s intense. Kids like him a lot and yes he’s definitely a beast. He is a choir boy with the rules. He isn’t an electric salesman like Dino Barber or Dabo. He’s more Saben lite with regards to his ability to communicate. He’s a dedicated solider to his priorities. You might be right... maybe he’s the right one for the job. No one knows for surre.

Howard was a great coach, though. Not just a great recruiter.

We need a coach, Richt recruited fine.

.....with the wind at his back the 1st couple or so years. When he had no hope to sell, things fell apart.

Richt recruiting well the 1st couple years doesn't mean that the next brilliant "coach" will recruit well in their 1st couple years, so the ad hoc fallacy is alive and kicking here.

Do we need some brilliant offensive mind for our offense to flourish, or did we moreso need some outdated, tenured coach to not be blocking things trying to catapult his son's career?
