Recall some of the "gurus" said Ivey lacked long speed?

Extreme about 40 times? Wtf you talking bout? And yea, weren't you one of the guys saying James cook couldn't run? Homeboy posted a 47 qtr. I told you anybody that can run a 47 qtr can run period. Well....james cook just ran a 10.5 100m lmfao.

James Cook is slow AF. Football isn't played on a track. It's played on a field. There is a reason why none of the Big 3 wanted him.

I'ma fan of DJ Ivey.

But this is the exact same argument we had when Tracy Howard was a Freshman, The fact is, more times than not, lack of speed at CB is a problem.

Ivey looks like he'll have good size though. LaDarius Gunter is a bigger but slower Miami CB who's had a good career. I think Ivey has more potential, but I'd be happy if he turns out to be similar to Gunter.

To be fair, I don't remember anyone saying "no chance" of him playing CB. I think many just think his ceiling is much higher at Safety.

This.

Lots of folks playing revisionist history here. The consensus was that Gil would eventually be a safety here. He'd for sure start out at CB.

I'll have to watch him play a bit but from what little I watched of his HS clips, I think a move to safety makes sense but let's see how he does at CB first.

James Cook isn't slow, but his "10.5" was with a crazy illegal wind. If you use the conversion it would be a 10.76, which seems accurate.

For some reason, people like to claim kids who don't run track are slow. Pope and Cook are both showing that's not true. Ivey might not be a 4.3 guy but he'd be running sub 11 in the 100m if he ran track too

You lose the argument so you make lies to “win”. You really are stupid. You’re extreme. You can’t support basic arguments and you make blatant lies as if you won’t be proven wrong.

Proof...

1. Please show where James Cook ran a “10.5”.

Im embarrassed for you.
WTF is 47's?? Legit question.

Fair, however we all also knew that Tracey's strength when he arrived was getting over the top of opposing receivers and bullying them off the line, which he never really did here.

Cook tested at camps in the 4.7s. There’s a legit reason people said he’s slow. This was per ESPN... http://www.espn.com/college-sports/football/recruiting/player/combine/_/id/220171/james-cook

I also remember everyone saying Kermit Whitfield probably runs a 4.2 in HS because he was always at the top in the state 100m. He ran a 4.5 40 at the combine and went undrafted. Let him suck at UGA while Lo becomes a top 10 pick. .

1. Cook ran 10.53 in the prelims of the same meet you posted the finals of here. Don't act dumb since you're the one who actually started a thread on the recruiting board about the same meet and showed all the times finals and pre lims.

2. People said cook couldn't run cause of his 4.7 time at some dam camp. I told all y'all if you can run a 47 you can period plain and ***** simple. Your were one of the clowns who tried to argue with me. Meanwhile cook come back and runs 10.5 lmao.

3. Its a fact dummy and cook just proved me right. I don't need to look at articles and other stupid chit I've done it. If you can 47 qtr mile, which cook did you can run period. I don't give a dam about a 4.7 **** he obviously had a bad day kinda like you have a lot of bad post.

Whitfield...was INFINITELY better (or should have been) than a combine 4.5-anything. Why he wasn’t, I have no idea.

Whitfield’s (DOB 8OCT93) progression below

2013 (19) - 10.28 +1.4 Gainesville (USA) 05 APR 2013
2012 (18) - 10.35 +1.2 Orlando, FL (USA) 26 MAY 2012
2011 (17) - 10.31 0.0 Orlando, FL (USA) 28 MAY 2011
2010 (16) - 10.58 -1.6 Winter Park (USA) 01 MAY 2010

Whitfield actually beat Tyreek Hill in high school. https://www.flotrack.org/video/5837...it-whitfield-beats-tyreek-hill-in-high-school

But looking at Hill I see another good example of why it’s so difficult (impossible?) to extrapolate 40 yard times from 100m times - much less a distance 4 TIMES LONGER.

At the 2012 IAAF World Junior Championships Tyreek Hill finished 4th with an identical time to 3rd place finisher Odean Skeen (JAM; Skeen ran 9.98 for Auburn last year); the winner of the race was Adam Gemili (GBR; ran 9.97 in 2015). Gemili finished .23 ahead of Skeen, who ran a PB, and Hill - but look at their relative positions at approximately 40 yds (35m; where the track changes colors ~2:50) and you’ll see that Skeen and Hill lead the race with Gemili (I’m sure a bit of parallax effect is skewing their actual positions).

A .23 win is domination; that’s two different categories of sprinter. If a .23 100m win doesn’t tell one a whole lot about two different sprinters at 40 yds, how could any distance LONGER than that? It is EXTREME(LY) possible that a 47-second High School sprinter is NO BETTER than a 4.7 40yd. ****, 4.8. He might also run a 4.3 - it would be impossible to know.

LMFAO. You trying way to hard to quantify this chit. Give it a rest boss. Dude had a bad day. If you knew anything about track you wouldn't be postin this bs. He obviously had a bad day, undisclosed injury or whatever. Who cares? I told you if you can a 47 you can run period. That's all you need to know.

Just like after awhile you're post get worse and worse if you have female shoulders. Fingers n chit get tired typing after about 10 mins, fatigue steps in

Rubbish. Cook obviously had a bad day, some undisclosed injury I dunno. Don't matter. I already knew he was faster than 4.7 cause the kid posted a dam 47 qtr which is rollin. All the people who said he couldn't run because of the 4.7 40 just didn't know what they didn't know.

If you can run 47 you can run faster than a 4.7 ion the 40 plain and simple. technomegatron was one of the guys who tried to disprove my simple comment but here we are in 2018 and cook posting 10.6/10.5 100m times lmao and then trying to pretend it didn't happen lmao.

100m and vs 1st step to 40 are different. Cook doesn’t look explosive and nobody reported anything about an injury.

Getting back to Ivey..... still concerned about his speed until I see differently. Don't care about a random sentence in some article.

I agree. His 7 coach and “the one we do not speak of” were both saying he didn’t have elite speed but good speed. Time will tell. Hopefully he’s blossomed in weight room and it’s showing in lower body strength already.
