I have been watching this team with great interest as usual but trying not to be disappointed every week by lowering my expectations.
I haven't posted for awhile because saying the coaching sucks over and over gets old.

The last week was a disaster. I will be watching again to see if the school has the courage to make the changes needed to compete at a high level.

Last night the kids put it all on the line. They played football like they have since they were kids. Yes, they were undisciplined and had way to many penalties but they played their collective hearts out and were rewarded. There is a lot of talent to work with on this team for a good coaching staff to mold.

On the other hand, they triumphed despite a pair of inept coordinators that have been robbing them of their college football careers for years now. These two amateurs have been learning on the job while collecting their pay checks as journeymen coaches. They should be graduate assistants at best. If anyone can't see the difference in UM football of late and the football of the top 25 teams they are fooling themselves.

The last offensive possession was a disaster of play calling. We only needed one first down and this OC didn't have anything in his playbook for the situation.

With over 2 minutes left in the game we give Duke the ball and play the same bend don't break defense that has been killing us for years. Our dbs did all they could 1 on 1 but the refs were burning them as we let the Duke qb complete passes all over the field. The guys on defense have been getting noticeably tougher while still missing tackles and not swarming to the ball but the DC and his playbook hasn't been helping them at all.

Congratulations to the team and to Larry Scott for letting the players loose.

I keep hoping UM football will someday get back to top 25 football and I can watch with pride on Saturdays again.
