Blake James is the definition of the guy that plays it safe so he can keep collecting checks. For example, choice of Butch or CMR....he makes the safe choice of CMR. The sad part is we would have been back to competing in MNC games if he had made the "unsafe" choice of Butch.
Can you imagine how strong the recruiting pitch would have been under Butch? He could have pulled out a little team photo from 2001 & highlighted that there were 16 first rounders in that pic & that he assembled the greatest team of all time & is doing it again now. Blake went with the safe choice.
He doesn't want to do anything that jeopardizes his ability to keep collecting checks. Unfortunately, Shalala and now President Frenk are enablers as they care solely about Academics and running a clean football program. Frenk said all the right things coming into the role -- that Football was a huge part of Miami's identity etc but, if that's the case, he should sh ! t can Blake and get a real AD in there.
Our BOT is our only hope. At some point they will become excessively frustrated with the severe underperformance and make a change (which should start with a change of AD).
All I can say is shame on Blake for letting our iconic football program languish this way. IMHO it is disgraceful what has happened. This Football program was magical for over 20 years -- one of the most special things in all of sports. Shame on all those people that have allowed things to get to the point where FIU is beating us.
