Reality of the situation

Butch will never be hired back!!!!!!!! Never.

People need to get that through their head.

You really haven't learned to stop making definitive statements yet? What does it take for you to learn your lesson?

Keep believing what you want. Doesn't make you right. Anytime you want to compare access to those in the know and how their feelings on butch 14 years later may have shifted let me know.

not saying it would happen, but time and blowout losses heal a lot of wounds.

I think UM is seeking nothing higher than an ACC "participation" trophy every year. As long as we are guaranteed a nice ACC split of revenues, and ticket sales are pretty good (they are according to UM), then what is the incentive to change anything?

I don't see the desire to fix this from UM.
wrong. Bad decisions doesn't mean intent or blindness. Just not as fast as we want.

Butch left do to the way shalala and UM we're slow playing him on his contract extension. He was getting ****ed around by his current employer and was given cart Blanche on the highest stage. He made a business decision for him and his family. Why anyone would harbor bad feelings 14 years after the fact is just plain dumb.

If Petrino can bang young co-eds, wreck his bike with said ***** on the back, lie about it, and still be welcomed back with open arms at his former employer, no reason Butch wouldn't be welcomed back.

who ever signed golden to ten years needs to go too

There's no way they were stupid enough to tie themselves to an unproven guy coming off a sub .500 season with a full contract buyout of ten years. No one could be that dumb. They might have given him the extra long extension in exchange for a smaller buyout.

This. Fake Blames makes the decision to extend or fire a coach. Donna gives the blessing. But Donna, unlike her sycophant athletic director, is not going to ok that type of contract without a relatively small buyout. And I don't know why people keep asking of the BOT is going to fire Golden. Again, the pathetic excuse of an athletic director makes that call. The BOT can obviously influence the decision, but ultimately it's the AD's call unless vetoed by the President. And if I were Fake Blames and I knew that a new President was on the horizon, I would make the move ASAP and tie myself to a new regime before the new President can replace him with someone else to make that decision.

We're dealing with one of the most incompetent administrations in all of Division 1 athletics. Who knows what those morons are thinking but either way it's time to make our voice heard.

Worst run university ever. Maybe Donna has improved academics, but the whole school is just so Mickey Mouse...and so are our sports teams (Coach L excepted).

I really hope this Ted Hendricks dude is legit.

People are fed up again. The Penn State issue still left people generally bitter and after how pumped people were for this big turnaround season, the fact that it's started an ugly 2-2 has just deflated people. If the season progresses the way people here think it will, I would expect a change, buyout be damned.

And I've been right with everything I've conjectured before so far.

If he continues to produce stinkers of game and has no idea how to fix it, the problem will fix itself.

Guaranteed he'll tell his agent "get me another job, I can't win with these kids."

We all want him and his crew of clowns gone, but many of us (myself included) don't know how realistic this is. So for those in the know:

-is the BOT even thinking of canning him?
-are they okay with where the program is?
-is his buyout something they don't want to spend on?
-are there other factors that we may not know about that are playing in Goldens favor?
-is Butch someone they'd consider?
-how realistic is it that we have a different coach next season?

Yes.
No.
Yes-ish.
Yes.
Yes.
Very.

Interesting...

If he gets the boot I hope it's early and we don't give our new coach a month to salvage this recruiting class.

I don't care who the coach is. We need a staff that knows how to win big games.

Our players don't play big. Our coaches don't coach big. When it counts.

I remember when we made plays like the fumble return for a TD in the most important part of the game, or forced fumbles to save undefeated seasons.

******* atrocious watching another game you know you should win and left the plays on the field. I'm not even talking about talent/coaching going in, I'm talking we left plays on the field that cost us the game and didn't take chances with adjustments to give us a better possible chance. Make the play. Take the chance.

Jimbo is a **** but after their game, along with excusing everything Jameis ever did, said that the team knows how to win football games.
Sadly for the last 10 plus years, we do not.

There's a bright side?

Brother. I'm as negative a ****** as there is, I just can't bring it to the board for every thread. Just can't do it. No matter how true it is it gets old to me. Just win football games. I'd prefer not beating a dead horse, but if the horse keeps twitching you may need to just shoot it.

People forget that the FB program bought DS a lot of the market value/goodwill that has made the U a successful academic institution - a good part of her legacy.

All indications are that the U has the resources to make the buyout, even if at retail.

Blake James didn't hire Golden and doesn't have any real reason to hang on to him. Loyalty for NCAA points may only get him through this year.

Money talks and in the changing CFB world, winning is everything. The brand is being tarnished, which will have meaningful negative impact for the entire University over the next 5 years, if this performance is allowed to continue.

Because we are a small private institution, we DO have to compete with a new formula against the bigger programs. Getting young/unknown scrappers/ hiring from within on the cheap isn't going to cut it when this failed experiment finally ends.

I have heard this argument numerous times in the past and I just don't understand it. Hey get the same amount of revenue from the ACC regardless of how they perform so that wouldn't factor into a decision either way. I find it hard to believe that they wouldn't want to see more people in the stands because obviously that generates revenue which no university would turn away. I want him gone as much as everybody but the administration isn't going to make a decision on this in the middle of the season because the fans on an internet message board are calling for his head.

If things keep going as they are now I think they will be forced to make a change at the end of the season, either the whole staff or the coordinators. If the reports are true of upset BOT members and boosters something will happen.
