I hope these kids know what they’re doing.

Back out the elite players who portal out pretty much knowing their destination and it’s fairly bleak for the rest when you break down the numbers.

It’s the sad truth. A lot of these kids were the alphas on their respective teams in high school. You get to college and all of a sudden, you’re not the top dog anymore. Some kids can’t deal with it and think they’re better than they really are.

Now of course, some just don’t fit well culturally or schematically and look for a better fit. But a lot of kids just can’t take waiting or being a rotational guy. (impatience is a big theme, maybe CIS should learn too).

A lot of these players were likely either pushed out or if they weren't, they weren't going to get playing time and it wasnt worth it to them to go through grind if they weren't going to play (hopefully they at least got their degrees). So yeah, the numbers are bad, but I wonder how many of those that entered the portal and didnt find a landing spot would have just left football altogether anyway.

Some of those players must go back to their original school? If so those wouldn’t count toward the “found a new school” figures?

I agree for the top talent, but 60% must not be back-channeling right.
It’s not really that they’re not back channeling right it’s just if you’re not a top tier portal entry then the scale comes into play. Sign a younger kid out of hs with upside or take a chance on an average guy? Also most average guys are not self aware. They promote themselves or back channel to places they have no business even speaking to
