I wouldn’t say we walloped Wake. We did in the 1st half. Yea, they are better than we thought coming into the season.

For the o-line, more Congdon and no SJ would be a start. Thats an easy fix. Not sure about the other side. Move McCoy to RG and take your lumps with Cantwell at RT? He can’t be any worse than McCoy. Put Meriweather in the mix too. Like what I see from him.

Cogdon’s performance against CMU v his performance this spring and even the Stanford game—This is one of several reasons, I am optimistic about the future growth of this OL under Mirabal

Either way that was as a takeoff year, over achieving would be winning a playoff game or two..We went from missing the playoffs to the natty. Thats a takeoff year by every definition. You can’t make it to the natty and say you’re a year early especially with our best players leaving lol

As far as this year we are a top5 team in the country currently thru 4 weeks, thats where everyone here thought we would be. The real schedule starts next week so it’s still alot to be seen. Idk what rebuilding you’re referring to, we have weak spots on this team just like we did last year just at different spots, that’s never going to change

We’re largely on the same page. We were a contender two years ago when we failed to address the glaring defensive weaknesses in the offseason.

We were a player last year.

This year we’re borderline favorites and are struggling at key areas we didn’t fortify. This wasn’t a rebuild.

Has McCoy been bad at RT? Not to my untrained eye.

We were up by like 4 scores on Wake and, for some unknown reason, shut it down on O.

Check out every interview last year - Cristobal stated that it was Jurassic Park on Greentree watching Bain and Mauigoa go at it.

We were always going to take a step back.

Ro with the OBB felt the OL actually did rather well overall. Didn’t see too many bad reps on the State of the Game breakdown (I haven’t watched the whole thing but first half breakdown was encouraging). Too many procedural penalties of course but they looked more ready than at any point this season.

Sometimes teams evolve and get better as the season goes on...
 
King Kongdon needs the lions share of snaps at Guard going forward. His pass pro is developing but he is a Mauler who moves bodies in the run game.

And for what it’s worth we are on the correct pace for getting to a freshman OL starting by slowly working him in vs lesser opponents and letting the tape speak for what needs to happen.

You don't lose Mauignoa, Cooper, Bell, and Brockermeyer, and keep going without missing a beat.

It was actually smart to rotate Okunlola and McCoy all year so that they both got enough reps to be ready for this year.

The problem is that they didn't have a plan to attack the portal to address the needs.

They obviously knew that what they had wasn't good enough and did nothing to fix it. They probably even wanted to start Rodriguez for personal reasons. They probably expected Cantwell to start.

Extremely poor planning and projecting skills on display from the coaching staff who have literally unlimited resources.
 
I don’t anticipate a change to the starting five against Clemson. The coaches have made clear how they feel about this. What I do hope for is active rotation throughout the game.
 
That second. Series line was much better with cogdon in and meriweather. Look much bigger as well. I can see some issues with pass pro but it la more of passing players off to each other and looking for work with the younger guys. But overall much better then the first series with what we’ve seen

Why does it need to be sold as a rebuild? What does that even look like? I mean I could totally see Mario doing that in between detailed injury reports, complete with prognosis timelines.

👆🏼That is sarcasm. We knew it was going to be a challenge. It did look like hot garbage at Wake. It did NOT look like hot garbage last night. It was an improvement. How much of an improvement? I haven’t rewatched the game to know and I have a life outside of college football; therefore I likely won’t have the time to do that task. I’m not objecting to your stance that the OL needs to improve. I’m objecting to the drama and overemoting that you’re attaching to it.

Some here ***** like a chick. The Oline, especially the interior, is a legitimate concern, everybody knows that. There probably have been 1K posts since the Wake game about it. But the mope ladies are holding onto hope that the play continues to suck, and then they’ll be back in their element, which is being a nagging little girl.
