Real Talk

Facts. I have no idea why #20 is so overrated by some on here. This clown takes horrible angles, and is only concerned with "trucking" or delivering "kill shots" to ball carriers and not having proper tackling technique. He is a one dimensional head hunter with no real ball skills; just size and athleticism.
hes always out of position and cant tackle. Kam ALWAYS bites.

Regarding the diamond in the rough qb point; TVD and Garcia were both highly rated and have both flamed out. We've had an unforeseen amount of bad luck at the position the last 5 or 6 years and we must hit on a qb in order to take the next step.

I wont discount Emory, he is definately a gamer. with that said he had less that 100yds passing in his 2 starts going into the 4th quarter. I will concede and completely blame that on the abomination of the offensive coaching staff though.
Yeah I don't think the staph did him any favors. He did miss some throws pretty badly but we don't know what's happening at fort Knox so it's hard to tell if he's getting good practice reps or what. Guys play hard and seem to like him. Win or lose yesterday I think he gets better with more reps had he not gotten hurt.

When the entire administration and football operation is bent over for u, u can do anything u want.

Mario can be a mediocre hc here and he wont get fired because he’s basically the football AD. They basically have handed him the whole operation with some money and are hoping to god he can fix it because they have zero idea what to do

So expect the bare minimum, and lets just pray he can fix this **** with time because he isn’t going anywhere anytime soon. They wont question anything he does, we are stuck with him no matter what

ZOverated until proven otherwise....

We should be stacking to classes, not trusting evals...
Huh? That’s the same thing Coker did and it led to the downfall of this program. Butch built our roster with great evals. Always do your homework.

Spot on.

TVD had a history of injuries let alone uneven play.

They decided to roll with not 1, but 2 freshmen as the backups.

Same thing with tight ends. They bring in a 69 year old blocking tight end, but your starter tore his ACL last year and you decide to roll with an old man and a True Freshman.

The roster construction in so many spots, outside offensive line is criminal.

The current strategy of recruiting QBs will end along with MariBro Ball will send this program into further despair.

Might as well go G5.
People say “ what veteran would’ve wanted to come in and challenge Tvd”? We’ll go look at Ole Miss and their backups. A pretty **** P5 qb transferred in to battle dart. I want to say two did. It was coaching malpractice to Have Emory in this situation as a true Fr.

1. Canes never should have entered the season without a viable backup at QB. Even if TVD turned out to be Tom Brady, without a viable backup the entire program is a rolled ankle away from disaster. To spend big on coaches, NIL, facilities, etc, and not have a backup QB is insane! No excuse from AD on down.
2. UM seems to have chosen a QB-recruiting strategy of seeking low-cost, diamonds-in-the-rough (with the occasional transfer if the room is full of busts). I believe that strategy is very risky, and likely to fail most of the time. Until UM commits to recruiting high-upside, big time prospects at QB (every year), expect more of the same.
3. Do whatever it takes keep Guidry. Dude is a blackbelt.
4. Dawson is not the answer at OC. Even with bro-ball, this garbage O is more predictable than most high school programs.
5. The solution: AD/Zo need to find budget for a big time OC, with resources to recruit big-time QBs, then tell Mario to get out of the way.

Completely agree on all fronts, especially the QB recruiting strategy.

I can understand those defending the player because he showed heart and never should’ve been put in this position if it weren’t for the woeful state of our QB room, but Emory was 8-of-23 (35%) and just 1-of-9 for -3 yards with 8 straight incompletions in the second half until midway through the 4th quarter when FSU’s safety took a terrible angle on the TD to George.

In an ideal world, a QB with intangibles and smarts who works hard but has limited physical tools and a throwing motion that needs to be completely revamped would be able to sit a few years. Even if you recruit and/or portal over him, he’s a positive presence to have in your locker room.

But here, he’s thrust into action as a true freshman against a top 5 opponent and your most heated rival because our QB room has been fumbled beyond repair.

Dawson has hit his ceiling. Coupled with a meddling Cristobal, it is a disaster...
Exhibit: first 3 offensive drives in the 3rd qtr.
Horrible plays..

Enough with this Zo bull****. He is praised like a deity, and hasn't done **** to move the needle. He's in the same tier as Mario and Dawson as far as I am concerned.

The reality is we are 6-4 with a phenomenal opportunity to finish 6-6.

That is all that matters. Nothing else but wins and losses matter.

We have no downfield passing game. Even a true freshman backup qb should be able to do this. Place the blame where you want: mario, dawson, qb, but this is incompetence.

Mario’s key strength is as an alleged “elite” recruiter. He needs to stack top classes.

Stack as in one on top of another on top of another.

Elite as in top 5, 10 at the absolute lowest.

What we have now is we missed on whales, so we’re on plans C and D and lower and saying trust the evals, bro…

No one is saying blindly recruit star ratings, but the proof is out there collecting top talent > diamonds in the rough…

I posted during the Clemson week we had a chance to go 5-7/6-6 and got mocked.

I remember. And I appreciate the perspective, because the truth is we are very close to being a 4-6 team right now.

Talk about a range. Technically, we should be 7-3, but could very easily be 4-6, or with competent QB play, 9-1 / 8-2...

I won't get into the coaching.... Later for that headache.

It’s why there’s the saying you are what your record says you are. All of these things tend to average out over a season.

UM did NOT choose a QB strategy to recruit diamonds in the rough.

It’s called not wanting to play for a ****** head corch that wants to run a bro-ball offense that either ruins a QB, or gets him nearly murked.

Wario cannot put a gun to a kid’s head and force him to sign with us. The recruits are allowed to choose the school that they want to play for, and it’s obvious to anyone with critical thinking skills at this point that no top level QB recruit wants to play in this abomination of a system.
