First and foremost, I've been one of the most vocal Golden hater on this board. However, I have a question...do you think the pressure for Golden to succeed here finally comes to fruition as a means for him to get another gig elsewhere?

golden will never be a head coach in division 1 football again

He knows he is toast at the high level and is cashing in one last year of big boy paychecks. He will be in the same boat as Bo Pelini that could get a head job at a non Power 5 school

Yes

No. The problem, as many of us have noted over the years is not with the coach(es), but rather with the contracts that UM offers them. UM has consistently given away the store to coaches who don't have anywhere near the same market value as their UM contract. That puts them in a position where they won't ever want to leave. THAT is what UM management has tried to do.

Im of the opinion that our athletic department and donna shalala absolutely abhor the idea of having to hire a football coach, so once they have one they like, they give away the store to them via a contract extension. If/when we find out they are not the right hire, then we're stuck because UM management refuses to negotiate these contracts in a balanced manner.

Golden will end up on ESPN for 2-3 years after Miami.

After that, he will get multiple offers from the SEC to come back as a defensive coordinator and recruiting coordinator.

This is his final destination.

He's not giving up, he's going to get a treasure chest of money the easy way(buyout) or the hard way(5 more seasons).

It's unreasonable to expect a grown man to walk away from millions of dollars. The onus is entirely on the administration.

Golden talks a really good game. Based on that alone, I think he will get another shot at a Power 5 school and use the " NCAA Cloud" as his excuse of why he didn't succeed at UM.

Agree. It shouldn't work at any school with a respectable athletic program but there are 120 D1 schools. He only needs to convince 1 of those 120 to hire him. He definitely will never be at a school of Miami's caliber again though. That's for **** sure

Let's see what happens after the 2019 season when his current contract is up, if he doesn't get extended again.

You're on crack. Like juiced up crack. SEC? Lol

I have no idea what you're asking.

We all agree Golden doesn't want to be here, correct? If he has another dumpster fire year, he can forget ever coaching at a D1 school ever again. So I'm asking, do you think that this pressure will force his hand to go all out to have a good year so he'll have a little bit more luster to his name and become a commodity on the coaching front again?

How is he suddenly going to be a good coach?

This. I'm sure that Al would PREFER to win football games. He just can't. Maybe he was a little depressed, detached, etc. in 2014 because his heart had already relocated to Penn State. But the idea that he COULD have been winning a bunch more games if he'd just been trying a little harder doesn't sound right to me. He's just not good, and it's not for lack of trying.

Golden will eventually be a HC at Columbia or Harvard.

Yup, he just isn't a good coach.

I know I'm in the minority on this one... but I actually think Golden will get it turned around at Miami. I think he'll succeed reasonably well here, and go on to another head coaching job.

Two years ago we won 9 games. Last year, we were in every game we played, and the only reason for our record IMO is that the team quit on the coaches and on each other after the FSU game. That should have been a 9/10 win season. We didn't only win 6 because of coaching, that happened because our players gave up. It is what it is.

Next year, we'll be even more talented than last year. I think a 10 win, ACC type season is very possible. And if that happens, you add in the 2016 class, and we've got this thing pointed in the right direction FINALLY.

Maybe that's just my over-optimism, but I could see it playing out that way.
