Names like Jimbo Fisher, Dabo Swinney, Mark Dantonio, David Shaw, Jim Mora, Gary Patterson and James Franklin would all come up initially with other potentially available big names like Bill O'Brien certain to be linked with Georgia. There is no guarantee any of those coaches would be interested, that is the kind of list Georgia could and should pursue, according to multiple people in the industry.
I can't help but notice the distinct difference in this list from many of the lists floated for UM.
Regardless of the reality of those people as true candidates, that is because Miami and Georgia are not equivalent jobs. Georgia is a really good job, quite probably a top 10 job nationally. The simple fact is that Richt has underperformed in that environment for years.
And Miami isn't?
If you want to win a national championship, UM has got to be one of the top 10 jobs nationally. Where else do you have repeated examples of winners, access to loads of ridiculous talent, a relatively weak P5 conference, and instant notoriety? And Miami loves a winner. I don't think there's a better front running city besides NYC. You want to make a name for yourself, Miami is the place to do it bright lights and big expectations.
