RB depth

As crazy as it sounds we could have someone like Avantae Williams take some snaps if we get a bunch of injuries or in emergency situations.

I like what I saw in highlights with the ball in his hands on Defense, on Offense and on Special Teams.
If we're going to go that route and play one of our TF commits out of position, why not just use Marcus Clarke in an emergency situation? Iirc, he played quite a bit of rb while in high school and looked pretty **** good while doing it.

Also, I'm sure we must have 1-2 serviceable, walk-on rbs that can be used in a pinch in the unlikely event 3-4 of our top RBs go down as well.

I did not know about that.

Sounds good to me.

Rather roll with our young guys chaney and knighton behind cam and then you have burns.

just look at the previous decade

2011
Lamar miller
Mike James

2012
mike james
Duke Johnson
Eduardo Clements?

2013
duke Johnson
Dallas crawford
Gus edwards
Eduardo Clements?

2014
Duke Johnson
Joseph yearby
Gus edwards
Trayone Gray

2015
mark walton
Joseph yearby
Gus edwards (missed the entire year from injuries)
Trayone Gray

2016
mark walton
Joseph yearby
Gus edwards (barely played)
Travis homer(got like a handful of Carries)
Gray

2017
Mark walton
Travis homer
Deejay Dallas
Trayone gray(didn’t play much)
Robert Burns (didn’t play)

2018
Travis homer

Deejay dallas

Lorenzo lingard (played a little bit until he was injured

Camron harris player sparingly until last part of the season

Robert burns

2019
deejay Dallas
Camron harris
Lingard
Robert Burns
Top 2 got majority of the snaps

2020
cam Harris
Jaylan knighton
Don Chaney
Robert Burns

we will by far have our most talented backfield we have had in a minute and we have been navigating the last decade pretty much with having just 4rbs or so every year if that so it’s really nothing new.

no jimmy murphy? fail

In this offense, you don't need much depth. RB3 won't get too many snaps.

If injuries happen, thats a different story.

No offense; but how can you post the statement “we will have by far our most talented back field in a minute....?”

So we’ve seen what Chaney has done on the collegiate field? We’ve seen what Knighton has done on the collegiate field? Burns is now a beast? Cam Harris projected NFL draft pick?

Orrrrrrrrrrrr, are u making an assumption based upon some HS highlights and 247 rankings? U have to be basing it on the latter & not former b/c we have unknown commodities, and it’s premature to make such an audacious comment, Brock.

If we’re going by 247 and HS highlights, then 2018 was our most talented stable of running backs:

Travis Homer: 4 star (10 RB in the Nation)

DeeJay Dallas: 4 star (12 ATH in the Nation)

Lorenzo Lingard: 5 star (2 RB in the Nation)

Cam Harris: 4 star (7 RB in the Nation)

Robert Burns: 3 star (28 RB in the Nation)*
Burns plummeted down the rankings due to injuries, but was once considered an elite blue chip*

On paper, per 247, 2018 was a great RB stable, but that was on paper.

My point is you, along w everyone else, need to stop putting undue pressure on yourself & rookies. Let’s allow them (rookies) to show & prove their mantle before always anointing or
saying such phrases as “this is the best in a long time.” History has shown that our paper talent have not always translated to on field talent.

In the end, you may be 100% right, but for now, there’s nothing tangible in front of any of us besides some Hudl highlights and 247 rankings which, for us, have not always translated to fulfilling the hype machine.

We good..... especially with a big-time running QB in a spread ...also, Cam and Knighton skill sets are perfect for this offense .... same with Pope, Harley, Restrepo or Worsham in the slot....all of them should be capable of doing well in the short passing game....not to mention what Chaney and Burns bring to the table.....no need to worry about the RB room imo.....

There are probably a few athletes playing WR CB S that have HS experience and would be eager to contribute if that’s how they see the field. Likely some with spread experience

In 1996 Butch gad 8 RB's Notables Edgerrin James, Danyell Ferguson, and James Jackson.
In 1997 he had 8 RB's the 97 ones plus Najeh Davenport
In 1998 Butch had 7 RB's 97 and 98 ones.
In 199 Butch had 9 RB's aded Clinton Portis and Jarrett Payton.

He rotated new backs in often, if one got tired or dinged in came a great replacement.

Chaney is already injured and Burns is a ticking time bomb. It would be nice to add another player into the mix.

We don't have serviceable walk-on RBs. Not sure why but we don't.

Didn't Burns make it through the year last year without any major injury? He's easy to write off with his past injuries, but that is quality depth if he's healthy. He's looked good in the little time he's been on the field.

Agree. Rooting for him and would love to see him get significant snaps in a game and see how he does with some kind of rhythm. Small sample size for him, but at times he looked really good. He reminds me of Hershel Walker (and of course I have to say I’m not saying he is in the same league as Hershel Walker or presently close to it - just reminds me of him.)
