Playing for the 9ers vs the rams. Not sure if he is starting next to Bowman. Had a huge hit on gurley on third down! Should've been a LB here!

Some of us were screaming for him to be a LB from his freshman year here. I remember watching him when he was at Sanford and he always looked and played like a linebacker. He was never good in space and had no business ever being lined up at safety. They did the kid a huge disservice by insisting on him playing a position he didn't have the skill set for.

Just another example of how incompetent, clueless, and underqualified the previous staff(s) were. Better days ahead.

smh...watch more film...ray ray been getting TIME for a minute now...just roll the tape..

I don't watch the niners..

I think this is his first season on the niners. If I rember correctly he was with the Raiders last year and maybe the Rams before that. I'm a niner fan, this seems like this is the first time he's really getting a chance to play without a short leash.

He basically played backer here. He lined up in the box a lot that's why he had like 80 tackles his sophomore year. We had good backers too but found a way to get him on the field. Dsharp, Cmac and Spence. He still played a lot.

He got a lot of those 80 tackles down the field from my recollection...and he wasn't lined up in the box anywhere near as much as you are implying. Respectfully disagree.

The arguments on this board on this topic were actually pretty heated during that time. He was playing center field a majority of the time.

What are you talking about? Sharp? Cmac? No he didn't. I have way too many memories of Ray Ray getting burnt deep.

just made a nice interception, he is not the only guy to transition from safety to LB in the NFL, thomas davis played safety at georgia under richt also brian urlacher

Randy and Al both seemed to dislike natural talent. That is a bad trait for a HC. JJ on the other hand loved it.

Best thing Ray Ray ever did at UM right here:

Yup and in response to whoever made the statement above....even in this clip you can clearly see he came from deep center field to make that tackle after the running back had broken through the first level of the defense.

Kid was totally misused here.
